Advantages: Reward for stuff you would buy anyway
Disadvantages: You are on their data base
A nectar card is not my main loyalty cad as I tend to do most of my shopping at Tesco and thus usetheir credit card but lately do find that I shop a bit more often at Sainsbury so decided to get a nectar card.
Applying is easy, just pick up a leaflet in store and there will be a card inside, then you can either register online or complete a form and post it to nectar. Doing it online took a matter of minutes. You will also need a number on the leaflet to register the account online and then you can check your statements and shop online using the card.
In most stores you get 2 points for every pound you spend however for Sainsbury petrol it is only one for one. As well as Sainsbury you can use it in Debenhams, BP, Argos and loads of other retailers to earn points. You then have a mass of choices on how to redeem your points however the rate can vary so it pays to shop around.
You can also shop via the e-store at places like Amazon and Play and that will earn you points as well.
I certainly find it useful to have and we tend to use the points for trips to amusement parks as a treat rather than money off things.
Summary: Reward card.

- 24/02/08 Not many points about the card itself such as rates on purchases, balance transfers, how easy is it to make a payment etc |

- 24/02/08 You can't use it in Debenhams anymore, they now do BHS instead. |
