Advantages: Spend in retailers, earn points just by doing surveys, free to open!
Disadvantages: You have to spend to earn
I remember when I first got my nectar points card. It was 7 years ago! The reason I remember and have kept the same one, was because I picked one up in store when I was 15 (3 years UNDER AGE for those who are unaware!) and activated it online and I recall feeling like I'd managed to fool the system! Sad I realise but I do actually love my nectar card.
Now I've just acquired a car, you'll see me queued up at those orange and white pumps whenever I need petrol; I will find any means available to use that little card and earn points. I think it is fabulous and I love the amount of places you can collect and spend your points. At the time of acquiring my card, I began working for Debenhams who used to allow you to collect points on your purchases making my balance look extremely healthy. Now they've backed out of the scheme, I've been finding ways of getting the most out of my card and in the current economic climate, I think it is ever more important to take time out to plan ahead and when you want that must-have item or big purchase that will set you back, think about how you can part with your cash and get something back.
One of the things I do to earn extra points are surveys via http://uk.mysurvey.com/ . From profile surveys which earn you up to 1000 points for filling in your beauty regime daily (with a useful option to repeat the useage of certain products so you don't have to keep adding in the same information) to surveys on dog food, cars and tv ads - I get set them frequently and have totted up literally thousands of points since joining, and all it cost me was my time. Literally FREE points!
So how else can you make sure you exploit it to the max? You can gain through ebay and amazon purchases as long as you go via the nectar website. There are such a wide selection of stores such as argos, homebase, expedia to name VERY few of the stores available. You can pretty much decide to buy anything and find it within one of the stores associated with the nectar card and there are also offers which allow you to earn double and triple points.
The Lowdown:
Popular retailers are buying into the reward scheme. The card costs you nothing and you can earn points - 500 points = £2.50. In Sainburys the card earns you 2 points per £1 you spend and many other retailers offer the same with promotional double and triple point offers. Buy the things you would normally purchase and find a way of getting them online through the nectar site and you'll earn lots of points which can be spent in those same retailers as well as saved for special occasions. Personally I use them on cinema tickets and gifts for others when I'm short of cash!
A great card, FREE which is rare in this word and lots of scope to earn points!
Summary: A great free reward card - earn points in popular retailers or free surveys!
