Advantages: money for nothing

Disadvantages: low rate

Sainsbury's own loyalty card is much like the others in that it offers 1p per £1 spent. You cash out at £2.50 aka £250, and obviously that builds up depending on how much you spend.

We don't do our main shop at Sainsburys, but even so the bill soon adds up and this is a handy little thing to have. It looks and feels like a credit card, is presented in appealing purple, and fits into your wallet easily.

The Tesco card beats it in that they have a key fob which Sainsburys don't, but if you forget it you can add the points to your card if you keep your receipt and go back within two weeks so that's a handy feature.

The best thing about it is that you can get points from other places for this card, a full list of where can be found on the website. This is a little extra that beats the other shops.

All in all, this is a loyalty card offering the standard 1% cashback. It's not enough to make you shop there in its own right, but if you're already spending there it is definitely worth it. It is one of the few ways it beats Asda, who don't have their own card at all.

Summary: do it

It's not actually Sainsburys own loyalty card they are just signed up to the Nectar scheme. Did you know that you can earn points by shopping through the nectar.com website on Amazon? :)
