The Paypal "pre-paid" Visa card is one of the better prepaid cards on the market, especially if you receive money by Paypal, for example by selling on eBay. The card itself costs £4.95 and the application process is straightforward. My card came quickly but it does look a little like a toy card. I was very dubious about getting a prepaid card... I have reasonable credit rating, bank account, so why would I want one. Having looked at others, they seemed to charge you for putting money in, then again for drawing money out or even paying for something. Then PayPal introduced their card and it all made sense. Basically, you pay £4.95 for the card. Then you can load it in various ways. If you top-up at a PayPoint outlet you get charged £1. So pay in £50, £100, or even £300 and the charge is £1... not bad. I currently have one of theses top up cards. The only things i don't really like about them are there fees and having to pay £4.95 for the card. However the good points to it as that you can load the card from paypal with no fees and use just like a normal debit card. Cash withdrawals you will incur fees for taking money from ATM. If you buy a lot of things online its grate as there is no fees for buying stuff on-line or in shops you simply load money onto it and pay for your goods. If you are having problems getting a bank debit card then this is a grate way around it as its just like a debit card but pay as you ... Read the complete review

It's been about 6 months now since Paypal launched their Topup Card, and suprisingly there is not yet much information about it on the internet, so here is my opinion of the card. I've been using Paypal for some time, firstly to buy on Ebay, then to sell, and more recently to recieve money from certain survey companies. A bit problem from the point of view of the latter two is the difficulty of getting hold of my money. For a start, transfer to a bank below £50 incures a fee, and it's also pretty slow, taking a few days (wheras electronic money transfer should be near instant). I was invited to get the new topup card, and feeling this might be an answer, I ... Read the complete review
