Advantages: PlayPoints, 0% purchases and balance transfers offer

Disadvantages: It's still a credit card, so be careful; interest rate not the best out there

I used to have the Amazon credit card and when that card expired I noticed that conveniently the Play.com website in conjunction with MBNA had introduced a very similar credit card. The offer was spend £150 on the card in 3 months and receive a £15 Play.com voucher - if you put your normal spending on the card this is easily done.

I applied for the card and got accepted no problem, as with any card there is the risk of rejection but MNBA does not seem to be one of the stricter providers. My card and PIN arrived not long after.

I spent my £150 and when the time came to claim my voucher this happened really easily and arrived via email a couple of days later.

After this initial voucher you receive 1 point for every pound spent outside of Play.com and 2 points for every pound you spend on the site. If you use the card to pay for your normal shopping the points soon add up - 500 points equals a £5 voucher and I've claimed about £20 of vouchers in four months by doing this!

I buy a lot of stuff from Play.com anyway, so this is a brilliant way of effectively getting things for free!

A great offer on the card is 0% interest on purchases for 9 months and 0% on balance transfers for 6 months.

After that, remember to always pay your card off in full every month or the interest you pay will outweigh the points you gain!

The standard APR is 15.9% which isn't bad, though not the best.

I find the MBNA online banking service to be simple and easy to understand.

If you want a card because you actually need to spend on it and spread the cost over a long period of time, this might not be the card for you (unless you intend solely to take advantage of the 0% interest offer), but if you are careful with your money and pay your card off each month then this is a fantastic card to have!

Summary: The best rewards credit card around
