Advantages: Money off
Disadvantages: none really
Sainsbury's reward card was first issued as a spoiler to Tesco's Clubcard. At first Sainsbury's was jam packed with extra reward points offers, in order to get you in the habit of shopping there and addicted to the reward card! The extra reward points offers are still there but not as many as the good old days! For every £1 you spend in store you get 2 points, when you have got 500 points you can be issued with a voucher at the till which is worth £2.50 if you use it in Sainsbury's. This part of the reward card programme to me make's it more superior than Tesco's Clubcard as Tesco's issue vouchers on a quarterly basis. Should you want to earn more points then can I suggest that you sign up for a Sainsbury's Visa card -you'll find leaflets instore or visit the Sainsbury's website for further details. The Sainsbury's visa card pays out at the rate of 2 points per £1 spent in Sainsbury's stores and their Sava centres. You also get points for shopping at non Sainsbury's stores at the rate of 1 point per £1 spent! Basically if you use your Sainsbury's visa card to pay for your Sainsbury's shopping you'll get double the points! The points you collect on your visa card are transferrred in 2 ways: For Sainsbury's shopping they transfer them automatically every month to your reward card and for non Sainsbury's shopping they save them till you have enough ( ie 500 points) for a voucher. These vouchers are green vouchers, they can be used in the normal way apart from you can not redeem them for Air Miles. Sainsbury's reward vouchers do not unlike some vouchers need to be redeemed solely in Sainsbury's. The rate for using them in non Sainsbury's stores is actually far better. The reward voucher is actually worth £5 if used in Arcadia group shops, these being Principles, Dorothy Perkins, Burton's and Hawkshead! There isn't a minimum spend so if you wan
ted you could pay for an item entirely with Reward vouchers! Sainsbury's Reward vouchers can also be used to gain money off Electric bills, BT phone bills, day out and converted into Air miles. For air miles it is at the rate of 40 miles per voucher. See leaflets in store for more informatin and terms and conditions. My local Sainsbury's also has a voucher machine, where if you insert your reward card it takes you throw all the available vouchers you can have for that day. Must of the items are actually products you would buy eg £1 off nappies, 75p off Margerine, £1 off washing powder being the latest one's that I've had! Obviously you are not just getting something for nothing here for Sainsbury's it means they are able to build up a very good profile of their shoppers and also to get the most out of any schemme you've got to keep going back!

- 16/12/00 I used them to take the bite out of my phone bill - but last time I went to Sainsbury's they said that they no longer did it! |
|
- 06/12/00 I usually use mine in Dorothy Perkins - better to get £5 off something rather than £2.50 off food! |
|
- 05/12/00 I do the same with my vouchers. Because they are worth double in the shops I save them.
Great opinion by the way! |
