Advantages: Worth more if used in certain shops

Disadvantages: None

I have been a loyal customer of Sainsbury's for quite a number of years now, even though our local store is not a giant one and could be improved in many many ways. I have found the loyalty scheme to be a pretty good one and can't really fault it.

Each reward voucher given out is for 500 points earned on your shopping bill, which equals £2.50. I must admit I don't leave the vouchers in to build up as a lot of people do, and as soon as the cashier says 'You have one reward voucher, would you like to leave it in or....' I jump in with 'Yes please, I'll have it!' I think the most I have had in my purse at one time is two! I have discovered that using these reward vouchers to redeem against payment in certain stores is very useful. The stores that will take Sansbury's vouchers are listed in a leaflet which you can pick up in Customer Services. Last week, whilst shopping in Top Shop, I found a pair of trousers for my daughter priced at £15, but after handing over my two reward vouchers, the trousers only cost £5, because in these stores the £2.50 reward voucher becomes £5! Not bad eh! (I think some stores will be changing this policy though in December, so that you can only hand over one reward voucher per transaction). It still means that it's worth more if you spend the voucher in one of the shops listed rather than Sainsbury's.

I was hoping to have collected some vouchers to put towards my Christmas shop at Sainsbury's, but alas, that seems unlikely now!

sainsburys have changed the terms, your voucher is still worth a fiver against clothes, but you can only use one at a time now
