Disadvantages: Expensive "free" points

My local garage (Burnley) recently introduced the new Shell Plus points card, after a long gap of no loyalty card scheme at all. I run two vehicles and usually fill up both cars each week. Since the introduction, I have filled up THREE times and each time I have been given a receipt, both for my fuel and a separate receipt for my points total. The points total always shows ZERO - and the Shell website shows that I also have ZERO, yet the registration went through smoothly (or so I thought) I emailed he organisers and they ask me to post my details including all my receipts - which I have since shredded - and they will credit me with the correct number of points. This is going to prove expensive to claim my "free" points. Has anyone else been in a similar quandry and if so how was the matter resolved?
