Premium Review Not all Smiles (185 words)
by - written on 05/04/04 (Useful, 143 readings)
Rating:

It was satisfying leaving Barclays and opening my Smile account with its ethical policy and pledge not to offshore any of its operations, however this has come at a price. Smile charges a high fee for withdrawals overseas compared to Barlcays who allowed fee free withdrawals at selected banks, and Nationwide who very kindly don't ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Expensive Overseas Transaction Surcharges (266 words)
by - written on 29/08/03 (Useful, 301 readings)
Rating:

Smile is such a nice bank but their overseas surcharges are out of character. When i draw out 200Euro i have pay an extra 6Euro to Smile. When i pay 200Euro in a shop the actual cost is about 204Euro. That's my cash dissappearing, and my smile too. Smile should take the market lead and stop overseas surcharges. I've had a Smile Credit Card for over a year now and haven't regretted changing it from my Alliance & Leicester Cashback Card. I like Smile. In the past few months, I've opened a current account, a savings account, an ISA and now a Visa credit card account, and it's just so easy. Once the bank has got your details (you'll have to send off some personal details to prove who you are), it's very easy to manage your money efficiently. ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review smile from ear to ear (166 words)
by - written on 25/02/01 (Useful, 138 readings)
Rating:

I have both current account and credit card with smile. Doing this gets you the better rate of 9.9% from smile for your credit card. If you don't have a current account then you could probably find yourself a better deal elsewhere, although not by much. Security is often of concern when banking on the internet, and i think that this is ...  Read the complete review

I have had an account with Smile for a while now and their terms are excellent. My one problem is accessing the account. I originally set up the account at work and once I recieved all my details I couldn't open the account. I phoned up and was told this was because of our corporate firewall. Smile had let me set up the account through the ...  Read the complete review
