A step forwards (Solo Card Services)
Member Name: derek_klivian
Advantages: Internetshopping, Direct Debit Disadvantages: Not accepted everywhere, Need a consistent signature for shops
Solo cards aren't very different from cash cards offered by many banks (I've got one from Nationwide) carried by many teenagers today. Their use is to withdraw cash from ATMs like normal credit and debit cards. So why bother to apply for one. One word. Internetshopping. Or was that two? The fact is that there are many online shops which accept Solo cards that it's well worth getting one. Amazon.com is an obvious example, I've used mine to buy memory chips for my computer, set up a direct debit payment for a magazine subscription and to buy stuff from shops. This is all a beeeze, as long as the site is reputable, just type in your account details and you'll get your product in the mail. In shops, you have to countersign the reciept, I have problems doing this because my signature is so random, but I just take money out of the nearest ATM instead. Trust me, get a Solo card and shopping will never be the same. PS you'll save loads of money subscribing to magazines with direct debit than just buying them in shops. Summary: |
