Advantages: I luckily enough kept the paperwork that said it was ;-)
Disadvantages: It will probably just be an inconvenience & a waste of my time!
Hi All,
I just thought I'd add a quick note of caution for all who have a Tesco Clubcard Credit Card & have had or are due their next statement very soon....
I have just been verbally informed that my Tesco Credit Card - which I have only ever used for Tesco purchases does treat TESCO GARAGE SALES as part of the 12 month 0% interest free offer, it appears not to be deemed as a pure Tesco's sale!!!
FYI I obtained my CC in August 2007 so I (should after the above problem is sorted) still have a few months of 0% interest offer available - better news to follow below...
I must say that up until now I have been very satisfied with the card & the benefits it gives. I am more than happy to pile on all Tesco purchases upon it (with the intention of paying them all off or as best possible when the 12 months is up) so it should be a very cheap year long loan that actually pays you for the privilege :-)) It doesn't really get much better! Especially if you can make use of all those "extra points" that are potentially up for grabs, assuming you don't leave them at home like I always seem to!
Anyhow - back to that word of caution!!!
Fortunately on this occasion (because I had previously been caught out on something similar) I had kept all the paperwork since applying for the card, including the advertising leaflet (in which the application form had been contained) that first grabbed me.
In this little 16 page (A5 sized) flyer it states on page 5 the "Benefits of the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card" & is the only place to detail the 0% for 12 months on all Tesco purchases terms. Here the third & final bullet point sates:
"Plus, fill up using your Clubcard Credit Card at Tesco Petrol stations nationwide and pay 0% interest fro 12 months"
When I saw this I thought thank goodness, because I was sure I was going to be duped into clearing the balance to avoid being charged the interest all the time! Naturally you cannot make a payment to clear that one item to continue with your interest free holiday!
It did seem rather strange that Tesco's should do this but it is potentially a very cunning trick & somewhat below the belt.
As a note it did record on my statement that all purchases where classed as "Intro Purchases" (& should therefore be 0%) and the estimated next interest payment was £0.00
I don't think tesco's have a leg (or anything at all) to stand on & I look forward to the response which I have been promised.
I just thought I'd post the info. somewhere that "they" are trying it on & that if anyone wants a copy of the flyer in question - just drop me a mail.
merry fighting & we are in the right (should you be next)
Cheers
Stephan
Summary: That was it :-)
