Advantages: Clubcard points for using your card.

Disadvantages: Using in Tesco does not really get you 5points per £4 if you use your clubcard anyway.

I have had a Tesco Credit Card for about five years and I first applied for it because of the added incentives you get as a Tesco customer and the fact it was 0% interest for the first six months. However, five years on it is still the only credit card I have. I always pay off my balance in full so have no need to change for any balance transfer offers or 0% offers, and the clubcard points I get for spending on the card keeps me as a customer.

The card is a Mastercard and basically if you use your Tesco credit card in Tesco they will give you 5 clubcard points (4p) for every £4 you spend and if you use your card for spending elsewhere you get one point (1p) for every £4 you spend. This does not sound much but I always try to make the effort to spend on my card and every quarter when they send out the clubcard statements I always receive a voucher for between £5 and £10. So every year I am getting up to £40 in Tesco vouchers just for spending with my Tesco credit card.

This can also be 'doubled up' at the moment, an offer they currently have where you can double up the value of your vouchers. They also always have rewards where you can get up to four times there worth.

On the negative side you always get one point per pound spent in store when using your clubcard, so using your credit card will only get you that one point every £4 anyway.

Another reason I continue to stay loyal to Tesco is that three years ago I bought some concert tickets and the company went bust but because I had bought the tickets with my mastercard Tesco refunded me my loss. I just had to fill in a form and a few weeks later I had my money back, no hassle at all.

The card is easy to apply for. You get a monthly bill which you can either pay by direct debit, over the phone or at your local bank. If you register online you can also view your balance, transactions and pay your bill online.
Any time I have ever needed to contact them by phone they have always been really friendly and helpful.

Overall a really great card, I have been a customer for years and have had no problems with them and I have received lots of Tesco vouchers in return for using my card. Everybody loves money for nothing.
