Advantages: A new idea
Disadvantages: Would lower prices be better ?
I was introduced to the new TESCO club card at the check out in my new TESCOS in central London. They gave me a leaflet with a temporary card and started to add points to my total immediately.
The booklet offers 3 ways to join...Freepost, by phone on 0800 59 16 88 or online at www.tesco.com/com/clubcard. The booklet outlines the CLUBCARD CUSTOMER CHARTER. This includes reassurances about your details and data protection (1998 Act). Details on what you get with the deal.
*** THE FORM***
This includes questions about you, your contact details, household details, dietary needs. If you decide to post it you fold it correctly and put it in the post. I applied by electronic mail.
*** WHAT YOU GET ***
When you sign up you get a personalised clubcard, key fobs and and club card vouchers in your statement. You can earn 1 point for every £1 you spend instore, on Tesco petrol or at Tesco.com. Each quarter I get sent a token to the value of my points which I cash, I also get vouchers for additional points on shopping in the next session.
You can spend your vouchers on Money off your shopping, Deals, Airmiles.
They also use your details to send you details of special offers. Points are available for switching to Tesco home phone. DVD rentals, car insurance, exchange for restaurant tokens (X4). Find out more at www.tesco.com/clubcard/deals.
When I joined I made 100 for my membership, that was about 6 months ago. I have just cashed in my second voucher, these really do raise moral. My mother and sister collect points on my behalf. I’ve also joined the wine club, they send me vouchers awarding extra points for purchases on wine. Updates on this and the rest later when I will maybe able to answer the question “would money off be better”.
Summary: A new card offering lots of deals and reductions.
