Advantages: money for nothing, clubcard deals

Disadvantages: vouchers sent quarterly

Having worked in Tesco Head Office for over a year now i would like to share some information regarding Tesco Clubcard.

What is it?
Tesco Clubcard is the most sucessful loyality card scheme, ever. It awards points to customers when they pay for their shopping petrol etc and provides Tesco with information on customers hopping habits etc.

How to get one
To register for a Clubcard you need to first pick up a tempoary Clubcard (registration form) from any Tesco store and then either fill out the details and send the form away, call 0800 59 16 88 or register it online (this is a bit iffy, a lot of the time the registrations do not go through so i would reccomend one of the other two options.

How to use it?
Hand over the card at the checkout when paying for your goods and you'll be awarded 1 point for every pound that you spend, you can use the card in any Tesco store or petrol station, although when it comes to petrol you can only earn points from Tesco petrol stations and not Esso ones with Tesco Express shops.

What do i do with the points?
All the points you earn are collected up over the collection periods and are then sent out four times a year, febuary, may, august and november, provided your points total 150 or more, if not then they will be carried over into the next collection period.

Alternativley you can opt in for the Christmas Savers Club, this way your points are saved up throughout the year and sent out in one go in November, you can also pay in up to £360 in cash at the checkout which is sent along with your points vouchers in November.

What can i do with the vouchers?
The vouchers can be used in any Tesco store to pay as full or part payment for anything, (tobacco, pharmacy and baby milk excluded) you can also use them to pay for your petrol.

The best way to use your vouchers is through Clubcard Deals, this allows you to use them for; holidays, vouchers for other stores, magazine subscriptions, days out etc. If you do this your vouchers are worth 4x their value.

Promotional Vouchers
Along with your Clubcard vouchers from the points you have earnt you will also receive promotional vouchers for money off, free products and extra points, these are usually taliored to previous purchases you have made although can be sometimes just to get you to try new products.

Clubs
As part of the Clubcard scheme you can also register for any of these free clubs, Baby + Toddler, Wine, Healthy Living and Food club. This is free and you'll get magazines with articles and information on relevant products and services as well as more promotional and money off coupons, id reccomend these especially the Wine club, as this magazine offers huge savings on cases of wine.

How do Tesco use the information
There is no need to worry about how Tesco use the information gained from you using your Clubcard, its only really to benefit the products and services they provide for you. The information is gathered from huge groups of customers and individuals are never identified.

And thats about it, there isn't really a bad side to this at all, its money for nothing really.

Hope this has helped
