Tesco Clubcard is a loyalty card offered to people shopping in Tesco. It was launched in 1995 by Tesco and it has helped Tesco become the biggest supermarket in the UK.

1p in the pound is given back to the shopper.

Clubcard accounts are managed by Dunnhumby, private company now majority owned by Tesco.

The card gives shopping information to Tesco, this helps it to improve stocking of goods, unlike other supermarkets you won't find Tesco shelfs empty because it knows what people bought last month and what they will buy next month.

Points are turned to vouchers four times a year. Customers can spend vouchers on special Tesco deal. This is the attraction of the card features as your voucher increases by threefold.

Some people complain about what Tesco does with the information that it gathers from every shopping transaction that is registered with the card. Tesco takes details of where you shopped, what you bought and how you paid for the transaction.

I am not complaining about the deals I have got through the card. Sometime Tesco runs special one off deals where you can add 100, 200 etc points to your account by buying a product.
