Advantages: Money back on your weekly shop
Disadvantages: None
To sign up for a Tesco clubcard, one must simply pick up and fill in a clubcard form from a tesco supermarket. The form comes with a temporary clubcard, so you can start collecting immediately.
A clubcard point is worth 1p if spent in Tesco supermarket, but can be exchanged for deal vouchers worth 4p a clubcard point.
The deals you can spend your tesco vouchers on vary from meals out at popular restuarants such as cafe uno, to hotels, open university courses, and car MOTs. The deals are added to regularly and you'll find an updated list on the tescos website.
One negative thing i have to mention is very rarely can you spend the deal vouchers on anything that is already considered a deal. For example pizza hut charge around £12 for a large pizza, and £3.50 for a side order. They do a special takeaway deal, £9.99 for any large pizza and any side. If you wanted a large pizza and side and wanted to pay in tesco vouchers, it would cost you the full £15.50 in deal tokens.
Once every 3 months your tesco clubcard vouchers arrive. These are accompanied by a bevy of extra coupons which are for money off or extra points. Sometimes these are rubbish and entitle you to 20 points when you buy a particular product, but once i received: 1 x £5 off £30 shop, 2 x £3.50 off a £30 shop all in the same quarter - which im sure you'll all agree is well worth having.
At random times (it seems random anyway) using your tesco card gets you a coupon on your supermarket receipt, which are similar to the coupons you receive with your clubcard vouchers (mentioned above).
Not only can you collect tesco clubcard points in the tesco supermarket and on the tesco website, but tescos have various partners such as EON and nationwide autocentres who can earn you points in various ways. Its also good to remember tescos offer you 1 clubcard point for re-using a carrier bag. This is increased to up to 3 clubcard points for the larger re-usable canvas bags.
Overall, i cannot fault the tesco clubcard. It is enough to make me drive that extra mile past my sainsburys supermarket everytime i go shopping.
Summary: Sign up for a clubcard now!!!
