Advantages: You can exchange your points for vouchers or days out.

Disadvantages: There aren't any.

Tescos Clubcard is a great rewards system offered by Tesco. All you have to do is when you pay for your items at the checkout hand them either your Tesco Clubcard or key fob and they will swipe it for you .Then for every pound you spend you will be rewarded with 1 point (=to 1p). If you have brought along some of your own carrier bags then let the person at the checkout know as you will get points for each bag that gets reused. On your statement this will show as Green Clubcard points. If you are unsure of how many points you have then each time you get your receipt look at the bottom and it will tell you how many points you have got per visit. .Then quarterly you will be sent your statement to see how many points you have. Tesco stores aren't the only place you can collect points other places you can collect them are: Tesco direct, when filling up at the Tesco gas station, Tesco Home phone, Tesco mobile, Tesco finance and there's many more.

When you receive your quarterly bill if you have got over 150 points then you will get a voucher worth £1.50 or more if you have more points. If you haven't managed to make 150 points then your points will be carried over to the next statement. It's not just vouchers that you will receive, you also get lots of smaller vouchers offering extra points for things or money off things. For example 20p off if you buy any fruit or 50 extra points when you spend over a certain amount. It may not sound a lot but it will all add up.

I just received my statement for this month I had only got 141 points. So I didn't receive the main money voucher but they still get me a voucher for a free pack of polos and I got a book with £50.00 savings because it Christmas coming up. There are various savings coupons that I can use in it like money off when I buy milk and money off certain frozen foods. But there are a few that I won't be using like Extra 2 weeks free when you sign up to Tesco diets etc.. But the savings book is very handy as I'm sure over Christmas I'll be spending a lot and using the vouchers.

If you decide that you don't want to receive your points in money off vouchers then you can opt to receive them in either of these ways:

1. Airmiles which can be exchanged for flights- The point system works different on this. Below are examples of what your points will turn in to.
£2.50 Clubcard points- Which is the minimum you can exchange will equal 60 air miles (If you go on the Tesco Clubcard points site it explains how many airmiles you will need for each flight).

2. Days out voucher- When you get to five pound in Clubcard vouchers this can be exchanged for a 20 pound voucher (four times as much as there worth) to get in certain days out places such as: Alton Towers, Blackpool Zoo and there's lots of other places to suit every ones taste.

Above are just two ways you can receive them you also have the option of receiving your points in vouchers for Goldsmith jewellers, vouchers for certain bars and restaurants and there are lots more deals available. If you want to find out other places you can use them the go on to the Tesco site and it will show you all the deals that are available.

Overall I think Clubcard points are great as it is nice to be rewarded for something that you have to do i.e. go food shopping. I think I will stick to getting my vouchers as money off vouchers for groceries etc as I don't really shop there enough to get airmiles but for others I think it's a great deal. I think that is great that you can do that though. Another thing I like is the fact that you can get points for reusing your carrier bag as in the end this will help the environment and it is nice to know that a big store is rewarding you for recycling.

Remember if you forget your Clubcard when you do your shopping just keep your receipt. Then the next time that you go shopping take it to the information desk, and they will put the points off that receipt onto your card.

Summary: Overall I think Tesco Clubcards are great.

I once worked for a company delaing with these cards and the prupose of the card was to gaether data on the custiomers to sell on to data companies who, one pressumes, uses it against the consumer. Card users tend to spend 85 more money there than non holders..
