Advantages: Great for money off holidays and free days out

Disadvantages: The thought that big brother is watching...

My family spend a ridiculous amount of money at Tesco! I had never been in a Tesco store before until they built a massive Tesco Extra practically up the street from me; I was always a confirmed Asda fan. However Asda being five miles away and Tesco being a five minute walk away, Tesco won out!

I do find Tesco to be a little more expensive than some other stores such as Morrisons and Asda, however it is very convenient to get pretty much everything you could need under one roof.

I joined the clubcard scheme upon the store opening as I always think it's good to get something for nothing (although I acknowledge that this is a misnomer really; they must account for the expenditure in their accounts somewhere!) At first, I used to just use the vouchers in store to get money off my shopping, which was very handy, especially at Christmas time. I then found out from a friend of mine about Deals tokens, and I've used these ever since.

In summer 2007 my husband, daughter and I journeyed down south to Legoland in Windsor for a little break away. We managed to use our Clubcard Deals tokens to pay all three of us in to the attraction for two days. We also went to Flamingo Land for the day last summer, again paying the entrance fee using Deals tokens. I think that the deals are especially good if you have a young family, as they include many great days out all over the country. They can also be used for money off holidays, including Butlins and siblu.

I am slightly uncomfortable with the knowledge that Tesco implemented this scheme in the first place to get information on what their customers were buying and to sell this information on; however this is just a small part of the bigger picture of ever-increasing government and corporation involvement in our lives and society and I try not to let it worry me when I'm having fun with my family on one of our Tesco Deals days out!

Summary: You get four times the value in deals, so don't spend your vouchers in store!

Not a fan - I don't trust anything that appears to be something for nothing.
