Disadvantages: denominations of money tokens sent are annoying

Tesco Clubcard is the loyalty scheme from Tesco. Every time you shop in Tesco and scan your Tesco Clubcard, you get one point for every pound spent. And 100 points=£1 and this is converted to rewards. It is a great way of rewarding yourself for your everyday shopping!

How to apply for a Clubcard-
1) Fill in the application form in a Tesco store
2) Call a free phone number-0800 59 16 88
3) Apply online- for this you should pick up a temporary card from the store first.

Application process is free and easy and you will straight away get a temporary card. Soon you will be sent the permanent card and key fob by post.

How to collect points?
1) Scan you Clubcard every time you shop in Tesco store
2) Tesco fuel stations
3) Shopping at Tesco direct (furniture, electricals, DVDs)
4) Shopping at tesco.com for groceries, baby items or any household items
5) By using Tesco Clubcard credit card
6) By recycling your old mobile phones or inkjet cartridges
7) At Tesco pharmacists and opticians
8) Buying any Tesco insurance products (house, car)
9) Using Tesco mobile contracts or broadband contracts
10) Also you can collect green Clubcard points by reusing bags instead of new Tesco plastic bags

You can also increase your points by some double or triple Clubcard points offers or using some coupons that come with Tesco Clubcard statement or from one of tesco's clubs or by signing up to Tesco Clubcard plus. Recently there were double Clubcard points for Tesco fuel.

What can you do with these points?
Once you collect these points, Tesco will send you a quarterly statement with the money tokens. For example, if had spent 200 points on Tesco fuel+ 300 points in Tesco store, this will be converted to £5 money token. Well, it might not seem that much knowing that you had to spend £500 to get a £5 token but when converted into Clubcard rewards, this can be doubled or quadrupled.
£1 token= £1 in Tesco stores/online (usually if not exchanged for any rewards)
£1 token= £2 in selected Tesco departments (clothing, baby toddler etc)
£1 token= £4 in partner rewards (restaurants, days out, European attractions, magazine subscriptions etc)

I usually quadruple the money value and use it for restaurant deals and taking my kid for days out. They have pretty good selection of restaurants like pizza express, latasca, cafe rouge etc. The rewards keep changing and it's better to check online or in their leaflets for the new additions.

The only problem with these is the denominations in what they send the money off tokens. I.e. if you have earned around £31.50 in a quarter, they usually send it in £15+£16.50 tokens. So if you are thinking of just exchanging a deal for £10 and you use you £15 token, then the remaining money/points gets added to your next statement- that means you will have to wait for another 3 months for those points to come back. It would have been convenient if they send it in £2.50 tokens because that is the least they accept for exchanging with the rewards.
