Advantages: Money off shopping or days out/holidays.

Disadvantages: You get less points per pound than other loyalty cards.

The Tesco Clubcard is a loyalty card for the largest supermarket chain in the UK: Tesco. Giving one point per pound spent in their stores or online and the ratio of points to the penny being 1:1, it's basically a 1% return on your shopping (excluding of course the extra points from vouchers, green points for recycling ink cartridges etc and reusing bags).

The Clubcard itself is often changing in appearance. These days, as well as your main Clubcard, you can also request key fobs, either to put on your keyring to use yourself (I find this is very handy, as it means one less card in my purse) or to give to friends/relatives so they can collect points for you.

Unless you do all your shopping in Tesco, or recycle a lot of ink cartridges through them, use a lot of bonus points vouchers and reuse many bags, it can take a long time to build up enough points to get a voucher (the smallest voucher is £1, which is 100 points and, minus bonus and green points, what you would get for £100 spend intore). There are often bonus points on certain products, so this is also a good way of getting extra points.

To make your points worth more money, you can trade them for rewards vouchers. This way, they are worth four times more than their face value and can be used for days out and holidays etc. Another way to increase the value of the points you have collected is to "double-up" instore. This is where you choose a department to "double-up" in, for example wine, and receive a "double-up voucher" for that section, where the voucher is worth twice as much when used in that specific department.

All in all, it is definitely worth having a Tesco Clubcard. Even if you don't shop at Tesco very often, it still pays to have one in the long-term, especially when used for Tesco Rewards.

Summary: Well worth having.
