Advantages: great range of rewards

Disadvantages: waiting for vouchers to come!

Tesco Clubcard is Tesco's reward card. The card can be used when shopping with Tesco instore and also online. It is blue and red is design and quite destinctive, the colours tie in well with Tesco's logo.

Each time you spend instore or online you type in your card number/hand over your card and you get points. At the moment, Tesco have decided to offer double points on all purchases - therefore giving you 2 points for every £1. Every 100points is worth a £1 voucher.

You collect points throughout the year and will be sent mailings 4 times a year - February, May, August and November. These mailings contain vouchers equivalent to your points that you've earnt, for example if you've earnt 500 points you'll have a £5 voucher attached in your mailing.

The vouchers is where your clubcard points can be used to great advantage. Let's take the above example and presume you got 500points (£5). You can either use this £5 instore towards you shopping. You could 'double up' where you can use the £5, to become £10 and you can use it within certain areas of the store. I haven't done this so don't know all the areas but some of them include - wine, baby and clothing. The one problem I think with this is that you have to convert your normal clubcard voucher to a double up voucher and when you do this have to state where you're going to spend it - so make sure you will spend it on that area. The final way to spend your clubcard points, and the way I use most, is to spend them on clubcard deals. Clubcard deals are where tesco have teamed up with other businesses/organisations to offer some great value deals. Here your vouchers are typically worth 4x the face value. This can vary however. For example your £5 tesco clubcard voucher, when converted to deals at Pizza Express becomes £20 in Pizza Express vouchers.

As I said, deals is they way that I spend my points as I feel these are treating myself and my partner and you get such good value compared to spending instore or doubling up.

If you were to receive a voucher and your deal costs less than the remaining balance will be added onto your next clubcard statement.

Tesco also offer ways to increase your points - either through bonus points coupons in the post from joining one of their various clubs, by buying things online with Tesco Direct or if you take out any financial products with them then these will also earn you points.

A great way to earn yourself some free meals out!!!

Summary: a great reward card

you can eat out thinking it's 'free'! I love it, myself and my boyfriend wouldn't really go out for a meal otherwise!

I have only used the rewards for money off shopping but this month decided to try the pizza express vouchers as you do get more for your money
