One of the most famous loyalty schemes
Member Name: scobeyjohnson
Advantages: Points can be doubled or quadrupled on occasion
Disadvantages: Might encourage you to do more shopping at Tesco than you need to
I do a lot of my shopping at Tesco whether that is at one of the larger supermarket stores near to me or the Express shop which is within walking distance of my house. I like making purchases at Tesco locations because they have a splendid variety of products, the prices are reasonable often with useful items on promotion and also I love the added bonus of the Club Card points, probably one of the most successful and well known loyalty schemes on the high street.
After a pretty simple registration process you are sent a card unique to you which is the same size as a debit or credit card, I have also seen people who have a smaller version on their key fob along with their keys, I remember being sent one of these but I have never used this, I have only ever used the standard card. When I first started to partake of the scheme you would receive 1 point for every pound you spent in Tesco stores but it is currently double at two points for every pound you spend. When you take your items to the check out the cashier will ask you for your card and they will scan it, in the process updating the balance of the points you have accumulated. Your receipt will often show your total number of points and you can also check online.
As well as collecting points when you buy groceries you can also accrue them when filling up with petrol, using Tesco direct and even if you use some of the company's financial or insurance services. Every 3 months I believe it is they will send you vouchers, if you have collected 2000 points you will receive £20 in vouchers which you can then redeem against products in the store or petrol. The last time I received my vouchers Tesco were offering the chance for you to double the value of your vouchers when you used them, so for example if you had 15 pounds they would increase it to 30 pounds. I doubled up mine and bought Lego to sell on eBay.
If you are a user of the company's mobile phone network they will give you treble points on whatever you spend currently. Another brilliant thing you can do is claim really good days out at famous British theme parks or locations with your points and dramatically increase the value of what you have earned sometimes by four times as much, a great bonus for families. When you are sent your vouchers you will often get other money off coupons for products Tesco know you like to buy so this membership scheme is a way of them monitoring your shopping patterns as well. It is a good bonus if you already shop at the stores and don't just do it to collect points.
Summary: A good bonus if you already shop at Tesco
