Advantages: low credit ratings accepted, polite and helpful staff

Disadvantages: High interest

When I was younger I had allowed myself to get into trouble with debt. I had had a visa card and it got out of control - I have suffered for this ever since. In 2009 I have made the decision to rebuild my credit so that I can plan for the future (I know I was suprised too at how very sensible this was of me!)

So I had heard many many stories about the Vanquis Visa card - but the one thing that I kept hearing over and over was ' they told me and I ignored it' so I read up on all the terms - yes the interest is horriffic% but thats because I already have bad credit. The one time I went over my limit (by £3) I received a phone call and they said that if I paid it there and then they wouldnt put it on my record - I did and no late payment has ever shown up.

All in all they have been polite friendly and helpful - even made a note of any holidays I am taking so that theydont flag any use as suspicious activity!

I couldnt be happier with Vanquis.

Summary: I couldnt be happier with Vanquis.

I'm minded not to agree with Plipplop. You can learn your lesson and see that credit cards can work to your advantage. There are also good reasons to try and rebuild credit to give you access to mortgage providers etc. However, discipline is the key.

You could argue that if you'd learnt your lesson, you wouldn't need a credit card...
