The plates are porcelain and have a contemporary design on each of a basic leaf pattern. It's just a leaf, repeated around the outside rim of the plates and near the top of the bowls in contrasting colour. So, for instance, the plates are white with a wide black band around the edge and the leaves are white. I like this contrast because it stands out and looks modern yet chic, quite understated in a sense.

I bought these a little while ago to replace some older plates that were starting to look their age. I didn't want to use my 'extra special plates' because they seemed to delicate, so the Midnight Leaf set appealed as being practical, well-priced on offer and yet still pretty to look at. This is a 12 piece dinner set from Argos that comprises of 4 dinner plates, 4 side plates and 4 bowls. They come packed in a cardboard box that's reasonably well insulated against being knocked and damaged.
