After I'd ordered the American Flag napkins for my granddaughters 12th birthday party I decided to treat the young guests to some matching cups which I knew would look great on the table, especially as I'd already planned to purchase some American Flag plates and possible a table cloth too. I used www.paperific.co.uk as there is a £3.95 delivery charge so I wanted to stock up on other items to take advantage of this flat fee.
I must say these plastic vending machine style cups are very good value at £1.99 for eight, I bought two packs as I'd already bought some High School Musical and Roary The Racing Car cups for the younger children. The cups are sold stacked inside one another and shrink wrapped, which was ideal as the cups had not been knocked out of shape in transit with no damage at all.
I was surprised to find that these cups are suitable for both hot and cold drinks, which was nice as it meant I could offer my American niece a cup of tea in a cup emblazoned with the Stars & Stripes. The cups don't get terribly hot, although I did find I had to rest mine on the table as my fingers got a little bit toasty! It's nicely decorated with the stripes making up the bulk of the cup with a border of white stars on a blue background. It looks very 4th July! The colours are shiny and bold and these cups look really great for the price.
They are sturdy too, a few got split during the chaos of the party but there are still a good few in circulation at mine and my daughters houses because they are too nice to throw away. I have kept four in my shed, currently having one end converted into a kitchen, and my other daughter took the equivalent of a full pack home with her too. They wash nicely, although have to have more of a cool rinse than a proper wash as the cups do tend to feel quite soft if the water is too warm and even though they are fine once dried I don't want to unnecessarily ruin them. This makes them ideal for cold drinks or tea, but not so good for coffee and hot drinks that are likely to stain them.
This may seem a strange thing to mention, but the rims of these cups are not too deep and are well sealed into the body of the cup. Anyone who has ever watched a young child drink from a vending machine cup will appreciate this means less spillage and helps to cut down on the pop dribbling out of the sides of the cup and down said childs front!
I think these are lovely cups. They do what they are intended for, are reusable and look fantastic. They went down a treat at my granddaughters party with even some of the adults asking for one, let alone the kids.
