Disadvantages: None

I bought this unique, shabby chic style mug from amazon a few months ago for £5 with free deliery. I actually bought 2, as i had intended to buy one for my friend but it looked so nice i couldn't help but treat myself to one. The main reason i was attracted to it was the simple but unique style, and the fact that it is a cath kidston product, who i'm a huge fan of.

The mug was £5 with free delivery which isn't overlly cheap for a mug, but for a cath kidston product it's a complete and utter bargain and the quality is amazing and the mug is much bigger than i was expecting; i half expected it to be a miniature mug as cath kidston products are usually mini or slightly more petite, but the mug is infact an extremely good size and holds upto 18oz, which equates to 530ml, so it is ideal as it saves going and filling up the mug as much as i would with a smaller mug.

It's bigger than my usual mugs but doesn't dwarf them, it's more thick than tall.

The pattern as i said before is very shabby chic. The background of the mug is white, with a white handle. The body of the mug is eye catching and has 'bubbles' all over it, which are really cute as they look almost drawn on due to the innacuracy in the sizing and shapes. They vary in sizes and colours, with light blue, light pink, dark pink and green bubbles. Due to the colour scheme i'd say it's more a mug aimed at women but i don't think a man would look out of place drinking from it, i just can't see a man appreciating it as a present!

The mug is made from fine bone china. Unlike most bone china products, which i've found to be usually more lightweight, it's quite heavy and is nice and sturdy - not at all fragile. The mug is quite chunky and is generous in size. Although it's larger and heavier than an average mug it doesn't effect washing/storing it and it's not so heavy that it hurts to hold it. The handle is nice and sturdy and is the right size to comfortably wrap my hand around it and pick it up

Because the inside of the mug is white, it does get coffee stains at the bottom and on the brim but as it's safe to be put in the dish washer and is easy to hand wash, the stains soon come off. It's also microwave safe and i find myself often sticking some milk and hot chocolate mix into it and putting it in the microwave rather than fiddling about with the kettle.

Overall it was a great buy, and even at £5 i think it's a bargain as mine has lasted for a while now (7 months) and is brilliant quality - i've not experienced any fading or chipping etc. It's lovely and i've found it brightens up my mug cupboard. It'd be ideal for a house warming/wedding gift etc and my friend loved hers, whenever i'm visiting she'll be drinking tea out of it!
