      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A cheery addition to your kitchen

I'm a big Cath Kidston so any excuse to see their patterns cheering up my home is a good excuse as far as I'm concerned and this my is no exception!

The pattern is bright and cheerful and it's doesn't wash off, even if you use the dishwasher.

What's more it's quite a nice size of mug too meaning you get a decent sized cuppa!

I like that there is a range of accessories to go with the mug too from Cath Kidston, and because the pattern is quite simple you can even buy yourself a coordinating kettle and toster to match (not from Cath Kidston though).

What I particularly like about this mug though is that it's not too girly (I.e. It's not floral!), so your other half is more likely to be accepting of it (as much as I hate to admit it, my other half is right - there IS such a thing as too much floral)

      Overall this mug is great!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      4 stars

I bought two of these mugs off Amazon before Christmas. It cost me £8 which is a lot of money for a mug but I really like Kath kidston and saw it as a treat to myself. Yes you can get them much cheaper from Tesco but you really are paying for the brand and the nice pattern!

The mug is large, it's larger than my other mugs and for this reason I really like it as I like to have a good sized cup of tea. It holds 18oz so this is larger, my other mugs tend to hold about 15oz.

It is made from china but isn't too thin, it's still nice and chunky which I like. I find that the very thin china cups are not as comfortable to drink from and also they get very hot to touch. This mug is still hot to touch but it does cool down so that it's a nice temperature to warm your hands on when it's a cold day. It's a nice rounded mug which makes holding it really comfortable and nice when warming hands.

The pattern on it is lovely, it is of Kath Kidston's star design which has nice big stars scattered on it in bright colours. I have a few other items which match this design so I really like it.

Cleaning the cup is easy enough. It is dishwasher safe but we don't have a dishwasher. We just wash it up along with other pots and it cleans well because it is so smooth. If tea is left in it a while then it will be slightly harder to remove but none of them have stained so far.

I think it is a lot of money to pay for a mug but these are quite special and because they are large I always feel like I have a really decent cup of tea when I have one of these. I am giving 4 stars as I think it is slightly over priced.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A good quality mug but the pattern isn't the best

I work part time in an office and I like to have my own mug and plate to use. This is my second Cath Kidston mug that I bought for the office as the first one got smashed. I bought it because a colleague told me that a shop in town was selling Cath Kidston mugs half price for only £2.50. I gave her my money and asked her to pick me one up on her lunch break as I had to stay in the office to finish some work.

When she came back with the mug I was initially disappointed as I thought it looked a little gaudy especially compared to my previous one which had a beautiful vintage pattern on it. The pattern on this one is brightly coloured stars and while it is nice enough looking it isn't really up to the standard of some of her other patterns at least in my opinion.

As a mug it is really good quality and is made from china. It isn't as delicate as some china however and can withstand the knocks and bumps it will get from daily use such as when washing and drying it. You do need to be a little careful as although it isn't thinly made it is still china at the end of the day and will smash if dropped.

It is a lovely big size of mug where you can be sure you are going to get a decent sized mug of tea or coffee out of it instead of a thimble sized amount. There is something really nice about drinking tea out of a china mug but for some reason I am not as keen drinking coffee out of it as I preferably like drinking coffee out of a thick chunky cup.

The china does do a really good job of insulating the hot drinks inside it and I am a fan of the handle which looks delicate but is actually really sturdy and secure.

Although I am not the biggest fan of the pattern it is distinctive and it is bright and vibrant. Even though it is used on a regular basis and washed constantly the pattern is still holding up really well and hasn't faded and gone dingy. You can either hand wash or else put it in the dishwasher.

Had I been to the shop myself I might not have picked this particular pattern but it is modern and would appeal to people who maybe think that Cath Kidston's more traditional patterns and a little twee.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        beautiful additions to any kitchen.

I love Cath Kidston, vintage prints and styles are something I love and I have a huge range of Cath Kidston things in my house, I may be a little obsessed hehe.
I have loads of these mugs all in different designs and this is one of the designs I have so I'll do my review for them all here.
Firstly these are big mugs, if like me you love a good cuppa you will certainly get your fill from one of these as they hold 500ml!
The mugs are fine china which depending on how clumsy you are, can be a bad thing because I have found they break easily and I've shattered around 5 of these mugs but as they are so pretty I buy them again. They are around £5 each which I feel is a fair price for a Cath Kidston mug and you can pick them up in a few different places, Cath Kidston store, Cath Kidston online and Waitrose to name a couple so you should be able to get one easily.
The handles are a good size, I can hold the mug comfortably while full of tea and so can my husband, a lot of china mugs and cups never seem to fit a man's hands so this is a nice change.
The mugs are also dishwasher and microwave safe so these retro little pretties fit nicely into modern life.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        They are wonderful

Amazing star mug - currently unavailable on the Cath Kidston website (The same style mug with a different design is currently £5 on-line)

The mug itself is Dishwasher & Microwave safe - however for me I am sorry to say it was not get knocked of the kitchen side safe.

I am a massive fan of all things Cath Kidston, and was bought a gift of a set of four of these mugs as a house warming gift. I prefer to have my coffee served in a mug lovingly referred to by my work colleagues as a 'bucket' which is why they bought me these.

The mug itself is made of fine bone chine, and will hold 400ml, or 14 oz. Because the mugs are made of fine bone china this means that they will hold this amount of liquid without being too heavy - and it does to tend to keep my drinks nice and warm for a long time. This particular design in plain white with bold coloured stars covering it...

These mugs are so lovely, and are available in a range of different patterns. The cowboy crush design used to decorate a colleagues mattress fabric years ago, which is what sparked the craze in my office. The range has something to suit every bodies tastes, as they have them in the beautiful floral designs that are so synonymous with Cath Kidston.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

A great mug for your favourite hot beverage.

I drink tea all the time. By that I mean at least 4 cups a day, if not more. It really depends on how much time I spend at home because I do have a few jobs and am out of the house quite a bit. I also have this theory that different mugs suits different moods. It has a lot to do with the shape and therefore the time it takes for the tea to cool down but I definitely choose different mugs based on how I'm feeling. I therefore like to keep an eye out for pretty mugs that come in a shape I don't currently own. That all sounds insane reading it back, but trust me it works for me.

I bought this mug from a Cath Kidston store and it was £5.00 for the mug. This is a reasonable price for what is I suppose a 'designer' mug from a well known brand with a really pretty design. The mug is ceramic with different coloured and sized stars that embellish the sides. It has a sheen to it like most mugs do and a really smooth feeling all over.

The handle is a great size and makes it really easy to use. The mug is circular and tapers towards the bottom of the mug. It is relatively thin though it feels like it is quite a good quality mug and definitely has stood the test of time for me. I really like this mug because of the size of the cup and therefore the amount of tea you can get in it. I also think the thinness of the cup makes it super hot when you first drink it but means it cools quickly. This is perfect for me as I use this mug at work and only have a limited break time. I like to have a hot cup of tea but I need to be able to drink it quickly sometimes so the cool factor is really handy.

The design of the mug is definitely functional but also really beautiful. I like that this mug has stars instead of flowers, which are somewhat of a Cath Kidston trademark. I haven't really seen anything else in homeware stores or supermarkets that has the same shape or design. So for me this is a great, unique looking mug that definitely improves my break time at work.

I have been using the mug for over a year now and though there is the slight inevitable staining from tea there have been no other issues with it. I am glad I paid a little bit extra for a good quality mug because it will last me a long time.

Overall, I am very happy with this mug and would definitely recommend it.

        A cute and tasty cuppa

I bought this a little while ago when I saw it reduced on Amazon, and being a bit of a mug hoarder, I added it to my collection because I thought it looked cute. Cath Kidson designs don't always do it for me because I'm not really a floral fan, but this star mug is quite funky & I've been very happy with it.

Cath Kidston was founded in 1993 and has since grown rapidly in popularity and now produces a vast range of products. Many kitchen items, such as mugs, use Churchill China, a company with over 200 years of experience in producing good quality china. This made me feel a bit more confident that rather than simply paying for a brand and design I was also paying for a high quality product that would last.

The Star Crush mug holds 18oz and shapes up at approximately 17.8 x 17.8 x 10.2 cm, so it's a reasonably large mug. It's also relatively thin, made from '100% fine china', but not brittle or frail. The design mixes 'the whimsical, the classic and the nostalgic', though I think the Star mug is far more modern than that with a twist of retro perhaps. Quite simply, the mug is predominantly white with large stars of varying sizes in different colours, including red, blue, yellow and green. Because of the white china and the large shape of the stars, the design looks bold and distinctive rather than cluttered.

I've found the design to be reliable because it hasn't faded since I bought it, which is always a good sign. I like the bold colours and distinguishing design because they stand out and are quite fun, so it's a mug that I use to cheer myself up with sometimes. The mug itself is good quality and I've not noticed any faults with it thus far. The handle is large enough to be able to hold this easily, even when full with tea, which can make it reasonably heavy as it's quite a large mug.

Due to the china being quite thin as opposed to a thicker mug, tea seems to stay piping hot for longer. Having said that, it's not brittle or overly delicate either, so I this is fine as an everyday mug. I'm confident that the design will continue to last and that the mug will remain in good shape for a while to come yet.

All in all this is one I'd recommend as its modern, bold, bright and funky design is complemented by the overall good quality of the mug itself.

        Selling on Amazon for £5

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

Just a mug! Just don't pay too much for it.

Cath Kidston has rocketed in popularity over the last 5 years with her "vintage" outlook on designs and revamping the British attitudes to being houseproud.

She has opening branches and small franchises in department stores not only in London but branching out into towns like Canterbury (where I live, and its a MASSIVE store too)

I first bought this mug from a kitchenware store much like Lakeland- and they were selling these mugs for £4 each which are a much better price than the £6 they charge in Cath Kidston stores. But during sale time, these mugs sell for as little as £2.50

The only place where you can see the branding of Cath Kidston is on the bottom of the mug anyway but her designs are so well known now and lots of other vendors are copying her floral or clear cut designs such as this one- I say that for a cheap price, its worth having a Cath Kidston mug so it can make your friends swoon with jealousy for having the real deal.

The mug designs don't just come in this starry version, there are many to suit different pallettes such as dainty floral ones, large floral patterns and fruity ones too.

The mug is also quite large so would be great for tea lovers who prefer a bucket of tea as opposed to a small jam jar size of tea.

It is just a standard ceramic mug and is NOT made from bone china, although she does also stock those as well.

hot chocolate on a winters night? yes please.

SHORT REVIEW - There isn't much you can write about a mug!

I am a big fan of mugs that are larger than the average - I don't really see the point of a small cup of tea. I am also a big fan of Cath Kidston. On a recent visit to see family, we headed to the Guildford branch (which if you haven't been its fabulous!) and had a browse about. As I am only a student and struggling with money a little, I decided to only purchase two of the 'Stars Crush' mugs at £5 each.

I have to admit, I was quite shocked that you could buy a mug of this size. It is more like a soup bowl than a tea/coffee cup - but all the same its fabulous!

The mugs have obviously got stars on them (hence the naming) and they are really funky and vibrant. There are others like it on the market but obviously not Cath Kidston. The mug is made from China and they are quite chunky and solid which is nice as you know it won't break easily. The stars all over the cup are multi-coloured and various sizes which is cute and adds some fun to the cupboard.

They are dishwasher friendly too, so no fuss when it comes to washing them - and it does advise not to microwave the mug but I do and it is in perfect condition still. The mug holds 17oz (pushing it 18 if you fill it almost to the brim) and this is probably three times the size of your usual cup of tea!

I tend to use mine mostly when we have company or snuggling with hot chocolate or soup on a winters evening as this is when they are best. I don't use them often for a cup of tea due to the fact I normally don't have the time to finish them and don't want to waste anything.

I would have to say, they do add a quirky touch to any kitchen and they are perfect for if you are after soup or a bigger drink - but unless you have 2 cups of tea in one sitting, I'd use them rarely. I adore Cath Kidston and she has basically taken over every aspect of my house in a good way, her designs (on everything) are gorgeous and well worth the money.

              Cath Kidston Stars Crush Mug

Cath Kidston is a British designer who produces a range of accessories, clothing, homewares and outdoor products. She has a very nostalgic, romantic look to her fabrics and designs and although not for everyone she has a look that I love and I really enjoy the choice across her stores and website.

She is probably best known for her flower pattern designs, all different colours, bold and bright but one of my favourite designs that she does is her star design. I love anything with stars on, I think they are a really fun, cute pattern and the star print by Cath Kidston is very eyecatching and fun. My friends know I love her products and so I was given a star mug for my birthday a few years ago. I think it was a really nice present, given that I like her products and such a nice thought but also a really ncie idea for a gift.

The mug like I've said above features the star design. This includes a white background with coloured stars all over the mug. The stars are of differing sizes, some big, some small and are scattered around the mug, there are not too many stars on it, but just enough to brighten it up. The stars are all different colours, green, blue, yellow, pink and orange and are just quite fun and playful.

The mug itself is nice and big and always provides me with a good cup of tea. The top is a bit wider than the bottom and is a shape of mug I like. I am quite fussy about my mugs and like different ones at different times of the day or for different drinks, tea, coffee, hot chocolate etc (is that weird or is everyone else like this) but this is one of the mugs I like pretty much all the time. The handle is thin but sturdy and big enough to hold with your whole hand. The mug is 100% fine china and is dishwasher safe although I have never but mine in a dishwasher as I don't own one (much dishwasher is called my husband!!) so I can't comment on how it holds up in a dishwasher. It is not safe for microwaves though.

All Cath Kidston's mugs are reasonably priced for their nice designs and this one at £5 I'm sure was a very nice buy for my friend. One of my favourite mugs.

                Disadvantages

                Unique Mug

I bought this gorgeous mug from John Lewis instore just before last christmas in the sale, as it was reduced from £5 to £2.50 - this is a definate bargain considering it's a Cath Kidston product!

I was first attracted to it because it's so unique looking. It reminds me a bit of primary school due to the bright colouring of it and the fact that the stars aren't perfectly printed on and look more hand-drawn on, which adds to the whole look - it's very shabby chic in my opinion. The background of the mug is white, with stars in a variety of colours and sizes. There's green, yellow, red, blue and pink, all of which are spread around the entire mug. Underneath the mug is cath kidston's signature, proving it's authentic and not a cheap copy.

I'd say the main market for this product is women however i don't see any reason why a man wouldn't like it. The handle of the mug is white and rounded, with plenty of room, making it easy to wrap my hand around it and pick it up.

The mug is solid and made of bone china. Unlike most bone china products, which i've found to be usually more lightweight, it's quite heavy and is nice and sturdy - not at all fragile. The mug is quite chunky and is generous in size - it can hold 500ml of liquid, which is great for me and any fellow coffee lovers because the mug of coffee seems to last for ages!

Because the mug's white, it's easy for coffee stains to be left behind, however the mug is fine to go into the dishwasher or alternatively can ofcourse be handwashed - both of these methods always gets rid of stains, it's also microwave safe and i find myself often sticking some milk and hot chocolate mix into it and putting it in the microwave rather than faffing about with the kettle.

Overall it was a great buy, and even at £5 i think it's a bargain as mine has lasted for a while now and is good quality - no fading or chipping etc. It's lovely and i've found it brightens up my mug cupboard. It'd be ideal for a house warming/wedding gift etc as it's good quality and the fact it's a cath kidston product will ensure most people will love it!

The mug is available on Amazon either invidually or in a set of 4, individual mugs are also available widely on the internet and instore at a variety of shops, including John Lewis. Prices for individual mugs vary from £4-£8 and for a set of 4 from Amazon it's £16 with £5 shipping, so overall it'd be best to buy instore at a shop which sells them.

A bowl like mug for the caffeine addicts

I was lucky enough this Christmas just past to receive a set of four Cath Kidston mugs from my aunt with this Stars Crush design on. My kitchen cupboard is an assortment of odd cups and glasses that I have picked up from gigs and free out of Easter eggs, so when I was given an actual set to use and for when guests came to visit I was ecstatic!

Cath Kidston is one of my favourite household designers, their range is always quirky and they have a great choice of accessories. It is often a lot of things that you will never use because it is too nice! The brand started in 1993 in London selling vintage fabrics and furniture; it is broadly based on quaint English country style. Now Cath Kidston is more about individual and original designs loosely based on vintage but with no restorations or cobwebs in sight! Each season new innovative designs are brought out in a range of home wares, fashion items, bags and accessories. These are more often than not floral patterned and brightly coloured, so not to everyone's taste. However there is always a broad range to choose from and undoubtedly there would be something that would catch your eye.

These mugs are made from fine china approximately 2mm thick, so a decently heavy much which doesn't feel weak or fragile. Though it feels strong when you put freshly boiled water in and touch or hold the side of the mug rather than the handle it can burn your fingers. This is one of the disadvantages with this china mug. The size of the mug is about 17cm in height and a maximum circumference of 10cm. This size of cup suits me perfectly as if I am having a hot drink I want a lot of it, with this holding about 500ml of liquid.

The Cath Kidston design used on this mug is based on a star pattern, which I think is aimed at the younger market of Cath Kidston buyers compared to the classic designs they often use. It is bright and vibrant for your kitchen cupboard. So the background is completely white and different shaped and coloured stars are dotted around the outside of the mug, being yellow, blue, red, pink and green. The random positioning of the stars gives the mug a funky feel. On the inside of the cup written in red is the Cath Kidston brand.

These are a lovely set of mugs to have in the home, which are available in lots of other Cath Kidston designs. They retail for £4 and are also available in Debenhams and John Lewis as well as Cath Kidston shops and online. The stars design I have reviewed has plenty of other matching products available such as bags, footwear, slippers and tea towels. So if you want to start a pretty, bright and stylish Cath Kidston collection why not get going with these!

It's funny that I came across this product on Dooyoo as I'm sat here drinking a cup of coffee from this very mug - the Cath Kidston Stars Crush Mug. I wouldn't normally search for a product like this as I generally think that there is not enough to say about products like this, but as it is right in front of me, it seemed like too big a coincidence to ignore. I can't remember how much I bought this mug for, but I do know that they are on Amazon at the moment for £4 - which, considering it is a Cath Kidston design does not seem too bad to me (although clearly there are other appealing mugs on the market for considerably cheaper than this!).

The first thing to say about this product is that is a very large mug - the size of which does not seem very apparent in the photo above. However, it is large and will contain up to 530 mls of fluid - compared to most mugs which hold between 230 - 400 mls of fluid. Therefore, if you want to make a big cup of coffee where you haven't got to get up for a refill then this mug might be for you. I have heard some say that they don't really get the benefit of being able to put more fluid into the mug as by the time they get to the bottom, the water is cold. However, I haven't found this at all and I have found that the mug has held the temperature relatively well and by the time I get to the bottom third of the mug, the drink is still warm and perfectly okay to drink. I guess it depends on how quickly you drink! The only thing I would say is that the mug, when completely full, is quite heavy and so it would be beneficial to have a second handle on the other side to help lift and steady it.

The mug has a white background and is covered in different coloured stars (red, green, yellow, blue, pink) of various sizes. The colours are bold and bright and the overall design is appealing but classically simple in typical Cath Kidston design. There is a handle on one side of the mug - which could do with being a little thicker - and, like I said, the mug could do with having another handle on the other side. The mug is manufactured from fine china and so is of good quality - although as all china, it is subject to chipping, as my mug testifies.

I have put this mug into the diswasher many times and it has not been damaged by doing so.

Overall, this is a nice oversize mug with a classic and cheerful design.

                      Advantages

                      Disadvantages

I can't add much more other than can I have some more please?!

I really love anything Cath Kidston and was rally jealous that my sister had one of these mugs! I used it whenever I could because I just love a big mug of tea and the size of these are fantastic!

Recently my mum, who had noticed that I constantly used it, decided to buy me my own! Yay! She bought me the Electric Flowers one and I actually refuse to use another mug! They all just seem tiny in comparison and just don't look as eye catching!

I love the two designs we have in our house but I also love the entire range of designs! I would not have been able to choose just one and would have ended up with them all! I am definitely going to build up my collection.

At roughly £4 per mug, they aren't what I would class as a 'cheap' mug but I think that they are fantastic value for money. They are 100% china and instantly look better than a cheaper mug and they also have really fun designs which will look good in any kitchen! They are also really well made and sturdy! Most importantly they are dishwasher and microwave safe! The mug I have been using for 6months+ on an almost daily basis has shown no signs of wear and tear and the design is still 100% perfect!

I keep stating that the size of these mugs is amazing! So, the actual dimensions are:
                      diameter 9.5cm and height 11cm.

I think that they would make a perfect present for anyone and I think I'm going to treat my mum back this Christmas!

                      Disadvantages

I would recommend these to anyone

I am a huge fan of Cath Kidston, so when we moved house recently, it was a brilliant excuse for me to make some new purchases. I decided that i would kit out my kitchen in a mix of Cath Kidston designs.

I came across these Mugs when i was shopping my my local Rackhams Department Store. They instantly caught my eye, and I HAD to have them. At £4 each they are a little pricey, but you do usually get what you pay for right? I bought 4 of them, and I am hoping to build up my collection soon.

Size wise they are very large which is great first thing in the morning when you want a nice big coffee! They are made of China, so they do feel expensive as well as look it.. you can certainly tell the difference between a cheap mug and a China mug. What makes me laugh is the fact that my husband is afraid to use them as he is worried he will break one!! They aren't too delicate though so he has nothing to worry about really, I put them in the dishwasher daily and the pattern is still bold and the mugs are in one piece!

We get a lot of compliments on them, and they are certainly a great way to add abit of colour to your kitchen :)
