Dunelm Pear Mug and Coaster Set
Advantages: Cheap and functional
Disadvantages: Plain design....great if like me you adore pears though lol
First thing in the morning I do appreciate a nice mug to drink from. Nothing too thick and bulky but something without a big thick lip to the top of it. I did have a China one till I dropped it and when I spotted this one in Dunhelm and with a matching coaster to the mug and me rather partial to the odd pear or two decided that as it was reduced in the sale (that is still now on in Dunhelm) from about £3.99 to 99p it had to be worth the money and I was pleased to part with my cash. (Please note that this item is temporarily out of stock on the Dunhelm website, wwwdunhelm.com) but is still available in some stores and it does say online that it is only temporarily out of stock too so if interested keep your eyes open for this little set!
The Mug And coaster Set:
What you get is a ceramic round coaster and a matching mug. The coaster measures Dia. 9cm (4") and the mug Dia. is 8cm (3") x H 9cm (4"). Both items are mainly white apart from the different shades of green that makes up the pattern of pears and they are made from ceramic and have a gloss sheen to them. Because of the gloss these possess they are not dishwasher safe though or suitable for popping in the microwave of anything like that so you can only hand wash these.
Pattern wise well the coaster has a pictures of a pear on it and around the edge of the coaster a thin green green line along with a thicker turquoise coloured line of colour to the outer edge. The mug is patterned with pears on it, I count 12 on mine, some sliced open and with dark brown pips on show, some just whole pears with little leaves to the top of them for decoration.
This is not a bulky mug but rather grown up and attractive looking and simple in concept and design. The pattern isn't too busy, the handle of the mug thick enough but comfortable enough to pop your fingers through is simply decorated with a couple of green lines running down it and all in all I find this a nice little neat set to use, the coaster is of course very heat resistant as well as being functional.
Not being a thick mug makes this great for me and my wants and needs and this is a purchase I certainly do not regret making!
Only available in Dunhelm or from www.dunhelm.com prices at 99p a set for the time being.
Summary: Nice, grown up set that make an ideal gift!
