Great looking bowls, but the shape makes mixing tricky!

These bowls look really smart and modern in the kitchen. To have several bowls nesting together is always really useful for saving space, and for recipes that require separate 'groups' of ingredients - when dry and wet ingredients need mixing separately before being combined, for example.

I bought this set of nesting bowls mainly because I loved the shape. I inevitably make a mess when pouring batter out of the normal round mixing bowls, and I thought that the oval shape of the Nigella bowls would be perfect for pouring batter without getting it everywhere. I wasn't wrong about that - these bowls are a great shape for pouring out the contents. However, due to the oval shape, mixing in these bowls is much harder to do than in the standard round bowl. Mixing in these bowls is particularly difficult when using an electric hand-held whisk, which means that I now only use these bowls for recipes where mixing ingredients is easily done with a wooden spoon. Unfortunately, this usually means that the recipes for which I use them do not require an especially smooth or liquid batter...Which rather defeats the point of my having bought them over any of the other mixing bowls on the market.

When I purchased them a couple of years ago, these bowls were much more expensive than they are now. Unfortunately they do not suit the purpose that I bought them for especially well, so I do not think that they were great value for money. However, I think that the £30.00 that is currently advertised is a good price for high quality, smart looking nesting bowls.
