“ Brand: Virgin Vie / Product Type: Dining Service „
I have been buying Virgin Vie cosmetics for quite a while, but it is only recently that I have become aware of their quite extensive homeware products. Everything seems very good quality and as a consequence I found myself buying quite a few things from the range as Christmas presents as well as treating myself to the Provence Dining service just in time for entertaining at Christmas. You can buy this as a sixteen piece set but as we have quite a large family I actually bought two!
One set consists of four dinner plates, four side plates, four bowls and four mugs. I think that I fell in love with the pretty design which is very attractive and will definitely brighten up any table! The basic background colour on all the pieces is a pale blue but this is graduated in different shades which I think is very effective. Across the blue are some very pretty flowers in pink and white with chocolate coloured stems. You can get a reasonable idea of how attractive they are from the picture above.
Both the dinner and the side plates are a good size and I do like the round shape of the bowls as they can be used for virtually everything. The mugs are a little bit bigger than your standard mug too so they will provide a decent sized cup of tea or coffee. However, the mugs are my least favourite part of the collection even though I do like them. The reason for this is that I really like to drink my hot drinks out of thin bone china, and as everything in this set is made from stoneware it means that it is thicker than my normal mugs.
The stoneware means that it is quite a heavy collection too. You don't really notice it with each individual piece but if you try to carry a stack of plates or bowls you will be aware of this. This is something to take in to consideration if you have difficulty with heavy objects or also if you want your children to help you with the washing up!
Virgin Vie claims that the set is dishwasher, microwave, oven and freezer safe. I can only talk about the dishwasher as I have not tried to use any of the items in the other places and i do think I would be reluctant to use any of it to place things in the freezer - just in case. The set has been subject to quite a few sessions in the dishwasher though and everything is great when it comes out - there is certainly no evidence of any fading which is the thing I would be worried about!
Now, as with most Virgin Vie products, this set is not cheap. In fact it is £60 for the sixteen piece set. However it is very good quality and at the moment if you buy a set you can get a set of napkin rings and a set of napkins free. We got these and they do add to the finishing touches nicely (and you do get a choice!)
There are probably two ways in which you can buy a set. You can either go to a Virgin Vie evening (the best way is to host your own and then you might even get enough commission to pay for it) or to visit the online site at
If you do shop on line, make sure you go through a cashback site. At the moment cashback rewards are offering 10% cashback which definitely makes the price a little manageable.
Overall, I am really pleased that I bought this tableware. It is bright and attractive and it is also great quality. I just have to hope that no one drops any of it!
