Acer AC 713 ... picked this monitor up for free from a freeads advert and considering its tattered condition, it has served me well for the 7 or so months ive been using it. Even though its a CRT, it isnt that big or heavy, it fits nicely on my computer desk, which isnt the biggest one ever. I even managed to link it with another screen to use a dual screen, which proves the even older technologies can still be put to good use. The four user buttons on the front are of adequate size, and it is easy to manage your way around the user interface, and yes it does have a degauss button for those of you who insist on doing it 5 times a minute. 17" is easily big enough for even my bad ey... NEC HR19 MultiSync ... NEC HR19 is a great monitor as far as CRT s go. Not too big but large enough to enjoy playing games or watching media on. The setup menu is simple to use. It has a maximun resolution of 1600x1200 pixels at 60Htz which is more than enough for any user, my preffered resolution on this monitor is 1280x1024. On carrying and unpacking this monitor it strikes me as not the heavy weight i thought it was going to be and the tube at the back was rather smaller than previous monitors i v had. In all, my only flaw is that the menu doesn t have an auto adjust to sit the screen exactly where it thinks it should be like my 15" LCD does, so you have to make do with adjusting ... Iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 ... managed to get this monitor for free as someone else was throwing it out, and it has performed so well that I haven t bothered to upgrade to LCD screens yet, there s no point, it will only mean a drop in performance. It can run at 1920x1440 which is an awesome resolution that is above full HD TVs, and above what most monitors can do unless you spend 200 pounds or more on an LCD. On the other hand it does put out more heat than an LCD (I m sitting in a >26C room right now, but i do have a lot of hardware).
