Using my graphics card (A Geforce 2 MX-400)I was able to go to a resolution of up to 1280x1024, in full 32bit colour. I believe the monitor goes even higher with better graphics cards. I decided to buy a new monitor because the one I was using had become a "bit" past it. There was writing burnt onto the screen and it kept flickering all the time. So getting a new one was becoming quite a priority. The one I had was 17" so getting anything smaller would have been painful. I was lucky enough to go on some paid work experience at a local computer company. At the end I was able to buy a monitor off them for trade price, better than going to a shop and paying their extra profit margin as well. The monitor in question was a Compaq QVision 700.
