Advantages: cheap, looks good

Disadvantages: grainy some days

I bought a hansol 710A about 6 months ago after my old 14-inch monitor decided it didn’t want to work anymore.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to sell my old system and buy a new one with a monitor, so I decided to buy the cheapest new 17 inch one I could, which at the time was the 710A
It cost £136 from dabs, which is pretty good for a 17-inch monitor,

From day one I have never been really happy with the display it can look very grainy somedays, and others it can be ok (and no it’s not my eyes) even just switching it off and on again sometimes fixes the problem., I think this is a fairly minor, complaint, so I have never felt the need to send it back under its one year warranty.

But on the plus side its been totally reliable as you would expect, and apart from the intermittent grainy days the display is good, maybe I just got a bad one. But for the price I cant really complain.

It has a 16 inch viewable display, 0.27 dot inch resolution, on screen menu's for brightness, contrast, geometry,HV size and position, moire etc etc, so you can get the perfect screen for yourself, even if it takes some time getting it right. It also has a tilt base that can rotate 90 degrees horizontally and 17 degrees vertically, so you can make it comfortable for yourself.

I think for the price its excellent value for money, but I think you should always have a “ test drive “ of any monitor you are thinking about buying as you will be looking at it for years to come, see if a local pc shop has one for you to look at and see if you like it, as they are heavy things to send back.

I think you got a bad monitor, as it'll either look grainy all the time, or never. Sorry for the rating, but you really don't say too much. You need things such as the dot pitch, the controls, physical size, weight, etc. Alan
