Advantages: Good image quality and big

Disadvantages: Slight humming from the sides

If you have never seen a 19inch monitor before then can I just say you are missing out. Before I bought this monitor I had an old 15inch model and the difference between the two is astounding. For me now anything smaller is quite unbearable.

As well as being big, this monitor also has a very good image quality with loads of options to tweak the picture if you're not happy with it. It's possible to get the image borders lined up perfectly with the sides of the monitor which is something not all monitors can do. All of these functions including a degauss function are easily accessed with a simple but comprehensive menu system via three buttons on the front. Another thing to note is that the front is completely flat. Not only that but it has an anti-glare coating and there is never any static on it.

The maximum resolution you can have is 1600 by 1200 at 75KHz refresh rate. I personally have my resolution at 1280 by 1024 and it's as good as you'll ever need for a 19inch monitor. Put it at any higher resolution and things look too small anyway.

Ok now to the bad points. There are two very faint black dashed lines running horizontally across the screen. My friend tells me this is a manufacturing defect and I suppose I could have my monitor replaced if I wanted to but they aren't that noticeable and I'm too lazy! The only other bad point I can think of is there is a slight high pitched hum that you can hear if you are at the side of the monitor. The pitch changes depending on the refresh rate and resolution because it's linked to the pixel clock. However it's not too bad because it's like one of those noises that if you hear it long enough your brain just ignores it.

Overall I would highly reccommend this monitor to anyone who is after a good quality 19inch model. Sure it doesn't boast the stats of some of the other high end models but for value for money you would be hard pressed to find a better
monitor. I study computer science and so I look at my monitior a lot and not once have I wished for something better/bigger.

The two lines are the result of having an aperture grille, they split the screen into 1/3ds horizontally. You have to put up with that.

So you finally got around to writing something! Welcome aboard.

I thought those two lines only applied to Sony triniton monitors, since they hold the grill in place. Good that you pointed that out, I'll check that when I'm going to buy a monitor myself. (I planned to do that a long time ago already, but this might be the final straw)
