Advantages: Cheap, Durable

Disadvantages: Low refresh rates, Overall performance not good

LG produce mid-range, value monitors. Personally, I bought the LG SW775E because it was the cheapest 17" CRT monitor for sale that I could find when I was buying. However, my experiences have led me to believe that I should have waited until my budget would accommodate more performance.

The SW775E provides a good resolution and frequency for the average user, however, users out for extreme performance will find that of the 775E rather limiting. Curved CRT monitors from LG are renowned for being cheap, however, you often find yourself looking at images that ought to be flat, but come out looking like the side of an apple. You may well think that I am exaggerating to say this, and indeed I am to a degree, but you will find that the 775E does not give a great picture, and the screen edges behave strangely. I have also experienced problems with some pixels horizontally across the centre of the screen, however, they are minor, and are normally fixed after a degauss.

If you want a monitor on the cheap, and its got to be 17", go for the 775E because its definitely on budget. However, if you want a monitor which is more reliable and supports greater flexibility and performance, try something else.

I would reccommend Sony Trinitron flat-fronted CRTs, and AOC's PureFlat CRTs as good alternatives.
