Advantages: Cheap, Quality, Easy to use, Excellent picture quality
Disadvantages: 1280x1024 is unusable in my opinion
My first computer came with a 15" monitor, when I got a new computer, I gave my 'old' one to my Sisters. I also gave them the monitor which gave me the perfect opportunity to buy a new one. Having looked everywhere trying to buy a Hansol 710 which I couldn't get (from a high street store). I went into PCWorld.. I shudder when mentioning that place, as I dislike it intensely. Having said that they do offer a wide range of products - usually vastly overpriced though... back on track to the review: Specs of the monitor ******************** 17"inch screen (16" Viewable) 0.27 Dot pitch A nonglare multilayered surface coating on the monitor helps to make this monitor easier on the eye than some 1280x1024@60Hz Maximum Resolution Displays a maximum resolution of 1280x1024; 1024x768@85Hz without any flicker. Plug & Play Compatibility TCO '99 certified (SyncMaster 750s complies with the most restrictive standards for low heat and low power consumption). What does all that mean then? ***************************** Dot pitch - --------- The lower the dot pitch the sharper the image will look. The dot pitch for this Monitor is slightly above average and thus looks very good. Non Glare coated screen ----------------------- Most monitors come with this nowadays, simply put it will lessen eye strain due to lights not so readily reflecting off it. Resolution ********** The higher the Res the smaller things will look on your Monitor. The bonus of this is it helps the look of things. Though this monitor can handle 1280x1024@60hz (respectable refresh rate). I would advise against running the monitor at that resolution, as simply put it will hurt your eyes. A 19" monitor is needed for that resolution, in my opinion. At 1024x768 though this Monitor looks simply stunning. No fli
cker whatsoever is present making it incredibly sharp and easy on the eyes. TCO'99 ------ A standard that was passed for low power consumption and low heat production. This is a definate boon to the monitor, and enables it to be run for long periods easily. So why would I recommend this? ****************************** Apart from the price which was an amazingly cheap £150 - I would recommend this monitor for it's wonderful clarity. Coming from a 15" monitor it was a shock to the system when using this that all the colours on the screen seemed so much more vivid than on my old monitor. The display settings of the monitor accessible from pressing one button allow a plethora of options. It first of all has the standard Brightness, Contrast, Colour, and size orientation modes that most monitors have. It also has options for you to zoom the monitor screen in - handy if you have or someone who uses it has a visual impairment. This makes everything on the screen bigger, and thus much easier to use. Other options include a degauss option (to expel magnetic energy from the monitor) Various settings to change the Geometry of the screen The list of features is wonderful. I would definately recommend this monitor to those who are thinking of upgrading from a 15". Kev

- 19/07/01 Lol :-)
I deleted it on accident when I was half way through by pressing the escape key. Luckily I could right click and undo the action... otherwise the Monitor would have ended up smashed. :-)
