Advantages: Gem of a TV, looks and sounds fantastic
Disadvantages: Expensive but worth it
B&O have a long tradition of making sublime audio and TV's for many years and what a TV this is. I bought mine about three years ago, I chose the 36" and added to the set uo with a pair of Beo 2000 floor speakers which sit either side of the TV. Picture quality has rendered me and many others speechless, the technical gimmicky works a treat as well on TV, Video and DVD. DVD's come into their own, the sound quality is epic as well. You can of course angle the TV whever your fancy takes you, or in my case where I am sitting. The tv can be programmed to prest positions depending on your preference, (one thing tha never fails to amuse me is the when you move the screen the sound follows!!) Worth paying a few extra quid for is the updatable chip that allows you to expand the range of settings, you can divide the screen into up to 5 different channels all at once if you are a TV addict. Quality of finish is amazing and it should keep going for a loooong time at least one would hope having spent absurd amounts of cash for a tv...I did and I can say i never regretted it !! One thing I should say is find a good dealer, they genuinely give a shit about your purchase and look after you regards the set up in your room etc and in my case carrying the TV up three flights of stairs!!

- 18/12/05 I have been a B&O TV owner(LX 4500)now for 15 years and must add that it has been nothing but trouble. I know that you are going to say that it is old but should something that cost £1200 al them years ago last?? It started to go wrong after only a year for which B&O didnt give a shit about then the tube went after only 6 years and now it just switches itself off when ever it feels like it!!!When i did get it fixed the repair man stated that the components in the rear are all Panasonic!!! and all that you are paying for is the quality of finish on the outside. My advice to anyone thinking about spending a lot of money on these tv's is to have a good think about it and to have a look at what you can get elsewhere on the market for half the cost as there is a lot of other good stuff around. Oh i also fotgot the remote went funny after about 7 years and that cost £125.00!! After speaking around to other owners i am not the only one who has had this trouble so i hope that your TV does not go the same way as mine a give you the grief i have had. I for sure will be buying a new TV soon as i am sick to the back teeth of it now and will be looking at other makes without a doubt. Good luck |
