Advantages: Classy looks, Front AV sockets and rear scart socket, Good picture quality
Disadvantages: Squealing sound, Text buttons are shared with other TV functions
The thing that attracted me to this TV was its looks. There are 14" TVs available for less than the £99.99 I paid for this, but none are as cool-looking as this. Sleek and silver, it is great to look at even when the TV is not turned on. For £99.99 I wasn't expecting great picture quality but I was pleasently surprised - the TV picture looks as good, if not better, than the more expensive models from e.g. Sony. Options for controlling the picture are good aswell - sharpness, colour, brightness and hue can all be changed and stored as one of three presets. The fastext is good, but has an annoying problem - when the teletext is on, you can't change the volume, since the volume buttons are used for text function (e.g. text hold). A minor annoyance, but it could have been avoided. Which brings me to the biggest flaw. Te sound. Ordinarily it gives fairly decent sound - nothing special, but not bad. But whenever there is a bit of silence on the TV - e.g. between advertisement breaks, or during a really dramatic tense pause in a programme, it emits a loud squealing noise. I thought this was a fault with my particular TV, so I got it exchanged, but the replacement also does this. It is really annoying, and can spoil the whole experience. Having said that, I can't bear to take it back for a refund, because I know I won't get such a stylish TV for the same price. Ah well....
