Its known as the Matrix, the Goodmans Matrix. I was fed up of the small dinky 8incher in the corner of my bedroom. Did wonders for my eyes, all that straining to see the screen. I was unsure about what I wanted or how much to spend. My ideal dream was a 45" plasma screen mounted on my wall. However this is reality. I was ready to spend about £150-200 and was expecting 15-20"s. Then as I walking through Safeway Supermarket(yeah I know---sorry!), I saw it, beaming through the aisles. The Tv was sat in on top of a mount and had a big price sticker saying £150!! I swear it twinkled at me!lol Im a sucker for this marketing rubbish! Anyway, I went home and thought about it, and returned the next day to buy it. It was mine! The first problem was now. We have a large Mercedes and it was so difficult to fit the TV in the car. The Tv wouldn't fit in the boot, ... or the back seat... eventually it squeeeeezed into the passenger seat. It was so heavy too, weighing in at 33kg. Problem over, but Im sure it would be a problem for a lot of other people too. Then once I got home, I took it to my room and unwrapped it. The old TV could find a new home, I had a new baby! It was so easy to start-up. I just plugged it in. The tuning was slightly complicated, but Im an absolute novice who is so slow at this. However, I found I had it done in less than 10 mins. The picture was great- but thats due to the aerial. The thing that hits you though is its sheer size. Its enormous and is widescreen. The screen is 28". The dimensions are 480x740x540mm. The features are great, they are described as follows, according to the booklet. -it is a remote controlled colour television -100programes from VHF,UHF band or cable channels can be preset -it can tune cable channels -controlling the TV is very easy by its menu driven system -It has Euroconnector /RCA JACK socket for external devices (such as computer
, video, video games, audio set, etc) -teletext -all programmes can be named -programme swapping between last watched two programmes -forward or backward automatic tuning -sleep timer -automatic sound mute when no tansmission -5minutes after the broadcasting (closedown), the TV switches itself automatically to stand-by mode. The specifications, for anyone who is interested, and/or understands them are as follows(please don't ask me to understand them!): ~TV broadcasting- PALI/I' ~Receiving channels- VHF(BandI/III), UHF(BandU), Hyperband, Cable TV(S1-S20/S21-S41) ~Number of preset channels-100 ~Channel indicator-On Screen Display ~RF aerial input-75Ohm (unbalanced) ~Operating voltage-230-240V AC, 50Hz ~Audio Output Power-2x8 ~Power Consumption (W) (max.)-120 ~Picture Tube-28" So there you have it, cheap, easy to use, good size and features Still, always was a shame I didn't get that plasma screen... maybe one day...

After Having my new beautiful Goodmans 28" widescreen for 2 days, it thought it would have a nervous breakdown and leave 2 black vertical lines down the screen, change channels by its self and turn its self on and off when it felt like it! Also when the power was off you could still hear the speakers humming, so I duly unplugged it and took it back to Comet and slapped it down on the desk where a replacement was given (good old comet I luv you), sorted lets get it home and set it up again. Now it works for about 2 hours after which all the colours lose control and bleed all over the screen, I am not a happy chappy, this one's going back, I am going to get a refund and buy a new main brand one.

I don’t know how people cant like this TV. Its is a 28” wide screen and mines silver. The thing about it is that it is soooooooooooooo cheap. I picked mine up for only £199 and I have had no trouble with it. It has 2 scart socket inputs and one cool AV input on the side of the TV which pops out, perfect for games consoles and camcorders as you don’t have to got round the back of the TV to plug them in. The TV has 4:3 ratio and 16:9 it also has cinema functions to hide the black boarders in a film. The TV also comes with an auto function, which automatically finds thee best ratio for what you are watching. It has good sound but the TV only has 2 15 watt speaker in meaning it cant go as loud as some other big screen TV’s. The other bad thing about it is it has an install button on the remote control and if accidentally pressed a couple of times, it can wipe all your channels and you have to program them in again. Overall I think this TV is real good for its price and I would recommend people who have £200 to spend on a TV to get this one.

I wanted a big telly for my new DVD player and not being able to afford a brand spanking new Sony decided to plump for the Goodmans at £250. I've had it for about 6 months now and I'm really impressed. The picture is sharp and clear espcially when hooked up to a DVD player (although the black is a little washed out at times) and the sound is fine. Some people have commented on the poor remote, but I haven't found any problems at all. It's nicely laid out and not too big or heavy. All in all the Goodmans is a great telly at an even greater price, makes you wonder whether with some manufacturers you really are just paying for the name.

I bought a 28" Goodmans telly from Comet on Nov 29 1999. The remote control fell to pieces within six months. By nine months the sound went wonky and then the little door to the controls broke. On Dec 16 - 18 days after the 12 mos guarantee expired, a large bang went off in the telly. Some transformer blew up and Comet could not fix it until after Christmas - so, I have had to go out and buy a new telly. I will happily throw this one on the tip! A real lesson here - ya pays your money and takes yer' chances when you buy a cheap television. Never again.

i found the tv to be good value television set styling is very good and easy on the eye although it is not a widescreen so not as modern as i would like and i have found it to be good value for money, reliable, stylish with sensible controls and a remote control that is straight forward and easy to use the only problem is that the infra red receiver on the tv had to have asimple repair a year ago and as abudget buy i would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a television for a small room or for a bedroom.

          Disadvantages

I've had this TV for about 9 months now and have been happy with it from day 1. I've got a digital satellite system , DVD player and video hooked up to it and the image quality is superb from each. At the back of the TV you've got 2 scart sockets, 1 is a standard port and the other is RGB which produces beautifull output from any digital source. The Nicam representation is good for the money but the speakers are a little on the large side if you've got other speaker systems as I do. All in all a good TV well worth buying.

          Advantages

          Disadvantages

In the shops now, excellent TV, excellent price! I have just bought this TV & I`m glad I did, Money well spent. At only £249, it`s hard to find anything to match it. It has FST screen & fast text. And many additional features. There are 3 picture modes, 16.9 (widescren) 4.5 (normal) and zoom (which is when you want a picture to fill the screen instead of having any gaps top or bottom) It can be set in Nicam Stereo or Mono...the sound is excellent. It has a good clear picture. There is an alarm clock, it can be set to pick up a signal in any country. It has a small remote, child lock, mute, sleep button, on screen display, Auto or Manual tune....I found the Manual easier as the Auto seemed to find what channel it wanted. Having had a Goodmans Video for 6 years & not a single problem, I trust this will be as reliable. I would recommend this TV. Update:14 months on, TV has ben trouble free & relaible.
