The reason I bought this TV was there was 200 pounds off it in my local TV shop Christmas 1999. What a bargain! This is the 28" version of the C32WD2TN 32" Widescreen Dolby Pro-Logic TV (reviewed elsewhere on this site). This set comes with a stand which you can house your video/dvd player and a satellite box. The set has 2 SCART sockets at the rear and speaker line-outs for the Hitachi rear and centre speakers and 2 stereo line out jacks. I tried to get hold of the dedicated Hitachi speakers when I first got the set (and it was a new model then) but I couldn't get them from my local Hitachi dealer nor from their UK website. This was a major disappointment but I've since invested in a Aiwa Dolby Pro Logic Hi-Fi for the playback of movies and use it with the stereo out jacks - WOW!. This set has several screen modes: 16:9 (widescreen), 16:9L (widescreen letterbox mode);4:3 (normal square TV): 14:9; panormaic (stretches 4:3 format into 16:9) and automatic. A word about the automatic mode if you are watching channels on satellite they automatically adjust the sets mode. If you are watching terrestrial TV there is no encoded signal sent with the broadcast so you have to change it manually. Picture quality on this set is outstanding and this TV is excellent for a Home Entertainment system. I recently bought a DVD player and this really shows the picture quality. As with all Hitachi products built quality is good. The only downside to this set is it is big and you really need the space to make the most out of it. The other think is it is damn heavy - I recently moved house and because of the weight and bulkiness of the TV it was a nightmare to move. Needless to say where the TV is in the new house it will remain! All in all I can highly recommend this set.
