Disadvantages: Not very stylish
I am a big fan of the Matsui brand. My video, main TV and now my portable are all Matsui. I have never had any problems with any of these items and would recommend that buyers check out this brand which is Curry's own make.
I love to bargain hunt before I buy anything and so you can be assured that if I have bought it I have done the research needed to ensure that you are getting the best deal possible. In fact my husband says that they are no longer bargains considering the amount of time and petrol I spend hunting them down and he is course quite right!
Now at the moment you can buy the 1408T or the 1409T but there is £10 difference in price. I asked why this was and it is simply that the company are phasing out the older model therefore the difference is simply the number! Now unfortuntely they only had the more expensive one at my local store and I refused to pay an extra £10 for a different number printed on the set. The salesman argued that the cheaper model should also be that price so I wasn't missing out but I could not quite see it that way. So I trawled around the different branches until I found my television for the bargain price of £79-97! Therefore if you are quick off the mark you too could save a tenner.
The television has a 14" screen and comes in black. You can get it in silver and I believe in blue for an extra sum of money (round about £10 I think). It has teletext too.
The box was easy to carry to the car and fitted into the boot well. The staff were keen to help me as I also had my son with me at the time of purchase. When I unpacked the set I was impressed with the packaging. It was packed well with casing and very secure.
The instructions are idiot proof taking you through everything that you could possibly need to know in 11 clearly illustrated stages. The television was so simple to set as it has an automatic tuning process. This does take a few minutes to complet
e so you need to be patient. You then have to go through and put the channels onto the correct number but this is easy to do and clearly explained.
The television has a sleep funcion which allows you to automatically switch the set into standby after a preset amount of time. If you fall asleep or leave your television unattended it will switch into standby 15 minutes after the end of transmissions. This needs to be set but is simple to do.
The remote control has batteries already installed which worked. You can set all the functions using the control too.
The television is equipped with security protection so that it is protected against crime and any unauthorised use. You have to enter a PIN number although if you enter it in wrong more than three times the unit will be locked. You must then disconnect it from the mains and wait over half an hour before you can attempt to enter the code again. Once again you have the option whether to use this function or not.
The instructions come with clear fault finding guides to assist you should you have any problems with the set. There is also a 24 hour, seven day a week helpline that you can call for assistance.
My set came with a one year guarantee too. The picture is clear and the sound quality good. I have faith in this make and feel that for under £80 this television is an excellent buy for the children's room.
