Advantages: Great picture, Great sound, Easy to use
Disadvantages: Expensive, Heavy, Tonnes of boxes
For the last 4 years I have had the most useless TV in the world! It was given to me for free when I first moved in with my boyfriend... basically the person who gave it to me was about to throw it away but I took it off their hands and gave it a loving home. I have had to put up with funny colours, lines, noises and fuzziness in this time. And when NTL came around to put in our cable box they mentioned that maybe a new TV was needed! How embarrassing! So, when we decided to upgrade from NTL cable to digital we knew that it was about time to get a decent TV .... one that worked!!! Not being technically minded, we searched the internet for ideas and reviews on TVs. The Goldfish Guide site was incredibly useful (www.goldfishguide.com) and we jotted down a shortlist of those we liked, then visited the local electrical stores to see the TVs in 'the flesh'. We decided that the Panasonic flatscreen range appealed the most and almost every salesperson we spoke to said that Panasonic was a high quality company. The internet reviews seemed to agree, so we decide to purchase the TX-28PK2 model. -------------------------------------------- Avoid this section if you are not interested in specs! :- It has:- 28 inch QuintrixF flatscreen. Dolby Surround Pro-Logic with 2 Panasonic speakers. Power Source 220 - 240v 50Hz A.C. Power Consumption - 122w Dimensions - Height 503mm Width 720mm Depth 527mm Weight 42kg Q-Link Owner ID System --------------------------------------------- It arrived in massive boxes!! They took up our entire living room! A rather nice silvery stand comes with the TV and it is surprisingly easy to put together. Now I have had the TV for 2 weeks I can say that I am exceptionally pleased with it. The picture quality is good, and the sound features are fantastic. Star Wars sounds
great!! The features are easy to use and if you do get stuck there is a guide accompanying it that is easy to follow. The sound features include 'stadium' effect - great for football matches, 'movie' - well, not too difficult to guess what that is for!, and 'disco' for music. Then the pro-logic option is for films etc. with that facility where the extra speakers are used to enhance the sound experience. All in all I highly recommend theis TV if you want quality sound and picture... and it looks great!! (Yes, I know the looks thing is a bit of a girly phenomenon!). It is expensive but it depends on your budget. It is a lot cheaper than it's digital companions, but pricier than your average TV. It cost about £950 - but you can find real bargains on the internet. We purchased ours through our bank so got a bit of a discount. Hope this has helped!!!

- 16/10/01 I am quite the expert at looking for televisions. They are just so many to choose from nowadays. I should hopefully treat myself by the end of the year. Good opinion. |
