      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Although I don't actually own this set, being a TV repairman for a well known rental company I believe I am in a posistion to comment on the experiences customers I've visited have had with this set and it's other variants. From what I've seen, this set and any others that use the same chassis (main circuit board) are just one big bill waiting to happen and if it's out of warranty believe me Phillips won't want to know. The first thing that commonly goes wrong is the set switches randomly into ext 1, flicks randomly through the channels and/or completely ignores the remote control AND the set mounted buttons. All of these are the symptoms of the same fault, it's a panel on the inside of the set known as the A10 board and/or the painter IC, it's basically the brain of the set and to source a replacement from Phillips (that will more than likely go faulty in the same way eventually) costs around £200 (I think) The second thing that commonly goes wrong is the set develops a colour cast (either red, green or blue) and sometimes has faint white lines (known as flyback lines) in a zig zag pattern over the screen. This is a faulty tube and usually costs nearly the same amount of money as a new set to replace. To sum up, get something else!!!!
