Advantages: picture quality when working, looks good when powered off

Disadvantages: only works for 5 months, Philips do not ahve sales in UK

I also bought the 32PW9527 in January. For five months I have been very happy with the picture quality. Then I started to notice a black bar at the bottom of the screen. This grew in size to as high as 2 inches from the bottom of the screen. This also caused the picture to distort and when viewing teletext, the picture to bounce. I am returning the TV this weekend and after reading reviews from this site and others, will be asking for my money back or at the very least a replacement model. Most likely a SONY which is the make I had for eight years before buying the Philips widescreen TV. I only hope I do not have to go to go down the legal path too.

Just to provide update. I bought the TV from Comet. On returning the TV to them they were very good and after explaining my reasons for not wanting a repair, but wanting a NON-Philips replacemnt (even if this was more expensive) they simple said that as long as their engineer saw the same fault, they would allow me to choose a replacement set of my choice or a full refund. I was not expecting the latter option and therefore very impressed by Comet's after sales service. I have picked out a Sony TV (KV36FS76U). The one thing I have noticed is that there is very little input from Philips. Almost like this is not the first time Comet have been down this road. But form reading reviews on this site and others, I am sure this is not the first or second or third. I would definetly buy from Comet again but never any Philips product.

I've just bought a Phillips TV, video and DVD player. Hope I don't have any problems...fingers crossed!
By the way, more info would gain you a higher rating!!

It sounds like phillips are going down the tubes again. In the sixties and seventies, they had a reputation for making things work with elastic bands and bits of string.
Basically, consumers have a choice, and the message seems to be, even if the price is right, the choice for complex electical and electromechanical devices, avoid Phillips like the plague.
