I bought this product around 2 years ago. When purchasing new I found it to be an excellent TV with superior picture and sound quality and it delivered everything I wanted from a TV. With it being a Philips and top of the range, I thought it would last a good while before needing to replace it. No chance there.

Around 2 months after the manufacturers warranty had ran out, problems started to occur. When turning the unit on it used to sound a loud buzz briefly and go away. I have since had problems with the unit changing to and from the scart channels all by itself. This got much worse within the space of a couple of months and the TV started to make clicking sounds coming from inside the unit. I removed the scart plugs and things seemed to have calmed down. Going beyond this point, I started to lose sound periodically. I tried turning the TV off and then back on again, but to no avail! It just came back on when it felt like it. I had this looked at by a local repair specialist and was told that the TV was going to be really expensive to repair, so I've resigned myself to buying another TV that is definitely not a Philips! The other thing was that he also said that problems like what mine had were very common with Philips Televisions. I found that worrying.

I spoke to Philips about these problems a couple of times, who were no use or ornament. I will not be buying another Philips TV, and would warn anyone else to purchase something else if possible as it will probably last longer. The retailer that sold me the unit totally washed their hands of it and I have since told other people to about my experience of buying from them due to the lack of service I received. I wouldn't mind if it hadn't cost me just under £1000, but for that sort of money I expect it to last. I just hope that other buyers have not suffered as much as I have. Buyer beware!
