Before I start I actually have the 28" version of this. I used to work in electrical retail and was absolutely taken aback by the Sony Wega range of TV's. They were the smartest, most stylish TV's in store by a mile. They have a graphite colour case, flat widescreens and sturdy cabinets with glass doors. They basically look the business. They also had a price ticket to match. Fast forward a couple of years and I have a little windfall (read student bursary!) at the same time as my own TV decided it was going to niggle a bit - it was switching itself off at random occasions. Cue my husband and I go looking for a new TV. Having Sky Digital we decided to go for a widescreen TVto take full advantage of the programmes. We looked about at the major electrical retailers and found that the cheap TV's looked pretty cheap and nasty and having been in the business I knew which brands to avoid. Seeing the prices of the good quality widescreens £600 plus we decided to make do with our own TV for a little longer. Typically the TV decided to niggle a bit more. As we have a young child and tend to watch alot of videos rather than go out to the cinema we made a pact to treat ourselves to a good TV - after all we get the use out of it. Off we treck to a large superstore not too far from us. Thankfully the store was quiet and the staff were busy so that left us free to have a relly good look around. To test out the TV's we set the Sky box they were linked to onto a music channel so we could test the sound capability of all the TV's. Then we looked at the visuals - how the screen looked in terms of sharpness and contrast - then we looked at the overall image of the product. To be honest the Sony Wega won hands down. It looked the best physically, the picture was sharper and clearer than on the competitors and the sound was amazing. I also knew from experience that Sony products are g
reat quality. To clinch the deal the store had reduced them in price since we had previously looked!!! A year and a bit on and I am still impressed with my TV. After all I had wanted one for so long. It was really easy to set up at home and the cabinet, which is self-assembly, had clear instructions and all the screws in the box!!! The remote is easy to use and does not eat batteries like my old one did. Once you get used to the functions of the TV it is as easy as 123!!! Plus, having a totally flat screen minimses glare, reflection and enables me to see the TV from more spots in the room without having to get a crick in my neck My only quiblle is that the remote for the TV is a light grey colour that does not match the rest of the product at all. It would have looked way better in the graphite colour of the cabinet and TV unit.
