I have been using this rototiller for 8 years and on three gardens that I started from lawn. If you've ever tilled turf you know how difficult it is to actually dig through the grass roots and actually work the top soil. This machine had no trouble. I marked off the area that I wanted to till and managed to make straight lines. It's quite controllable. It doesn't get away from me or stall out on our mostly clay soil.
I can start it without my husband's help, which is key because he will want to take over and use it and I quite like the job of tilling. Plus he doesn't know the difference between a perennial herb and a weed and I don't dare accept his "help".
I just planted my garlic bulbs this Fall and hilled up the soil nicely where I wanted to loosely plant the bulbs. I don't like to weed during mid-July because the heat and humidity are usually overbearing, plus the soil is dry by then and the weeds don't come up by the root. My lazy way of dealing with this is to use the tiller on the pathways. Because it is narrow, it can fit nicely between the rows. It's fairly easy to operate in a straight line so I don't have to worry about it getting away from me and grinding through a bed of carrots I waited so patiently for.
In the last 8 years, the only maintenance it has needed was to clean the tines and to change the spark plug. We store it in a shed outside and our winters can drop down to -20 for a couple of weeks and come Spring, the tiller starts right up. Excellent machine.
We attempted to sort out our garden this summer, as it had become a bit of a dumping ground since we had been focussing on renovating the inside of the house. Part of this involved sorting the borders out, and raking over the soil ready to lay new turf, and when my parents heard about our plans they dug out this tool from their garage which they haven't used since moving somewhere without a garden, and donated it to us it helped us out no ends I'd really suggest this product to anyone
As we prepared to get our flowerbeds primed and ready for this years flowers, why make your back do all the work when you can have this Honda Middle Tine 9 Inch Rotating Tiller do the work for you. What I like about it is that it carries a 4 Stroke Honda 25 CC Engine that is gasoline by run. Try and get gas that carries no Ethanol in it, ethanol tends to gum up inside your carburetors. When taking it out of the box you have to adjust the handles and screw them together with plastic knobs. After fill the tank with gas, you squeeze the air bubble 5 times she will crank up and let you know when she is idling perfectly. The manual and the web site say it's good enough for commercial work so I will let you know by the end of this year. I watched it bounce a couple times on top on some real hard clay dirt, but after you set your pace and aim at a slight tilt the tines went right in and did it's job. For those of you with rich black you shouldn't have any problem with tilling up your flowerbeds.
It is also great for your vegetable garden. If you make your gap isles wide enough you can run this in between your tomatoes and squash. It took me just over a hour to do a 15 foot by 25 foot garden so I can get my broccoli in this weekend and my squash. The tines are 8 inches and that's as far as you can go in depth in your soil so you can get a healthy root growth. The wheels in back have a height bar to them so you can measure how deep you want to go smoothly. The rubber 8 inch wheels will never go flat on you.
Believe me, she can bounce when hitting a big rock or a tree root just like the bigger boys can, but weighing only 28 pounds it is easier to bring it back to normal..It has a 60 ounce gas tank that's clear off-white so you can see when your running low. You can only go one speed and for me that is slow, but you fast walkers will love it too. Every time you go back and forth your tilling 9 inches across and hopefully 8 inches in the soil. The throttle flipper is on the right side of your handle and your handles are 9 inches for better grips with the rubber made grips. The handles bar length is one size fits all and at the handle bend 4 feet in length. It's good just to hold around your hips and let that 25 CC engine get in full throttle and tear you up some ground.
Overall what I like about this tiller is I can so easily put in the back of my truck or fold the handles and it will ride good in the back of your car or SUV. The engine is a little high pitched, for the action and less time consuming work it does ear plugs or ear muffin protectors I would use. The ground tines are made out of steel and warranted for life. There is a two year limited warranty on the engine and the transmission..I do recommend for the avid gardener or the light commercial gardener. The enjoyment I get out of it is seeing a flat turned over piece of land ready for some fruits and vegetables to be planted..

A Rotovator perfect for industrial use!
The Honda FG110 is the perfect rotovator for a professional gardener to use when wanting to cultivate large areas as the machine can turn over a large amount of soil, a few inches deep in a short period of time. The machine is easy to use..turn on, start up and of you go turning over soil...the machine could be used in a your own garden but must be used to using rotovators to use this machine.
I have used this many times at work and find the Honda FG 110 to be the perfect tool for the job as it can be folded down by loosening the screws at the arms and the arms fold allowing the rotavator to become very compact, perfect to fit into a small van or even a car.
The Honda takes straight fuel and can hold enough full to last at least hour. The machine can be tricky to start but after a few pumps of the fuel pump and a couple of pulls to the starter, the machine starts after a few tries.
The Honda is very reliable as it is a good make and the parts are of good quality. There is a cover over the blades stopping any stones being thrown up into your face.
I have found the Honda rotovator to be the perfect and would encourage anyone who is looking to buy a rotavator to look seriously at the Honda FG110.
I hope my review helps anyone looking to purchase or use the Honda FG110.
