Argos Value Range 24 Piece Venice Cutlery Set
by mizzy
At around £4 for 24 items, if you are stocking up your student kitchen items then you cant go wrong. I had this set for 3 years at University and although by the end they were a little tarnished, overall nearly all the items survived.
They can withstand heat when cooking, are strong as you can scoop icecream without the spoons ... bending, and dont look too bad in the drawer.
The teaspoons were probably the ones that tarnished the most as they were constantly used for cups of tea, and left in water a lot. They all had to be thrown away after Uni along with the majority of the set.
I still use some of the forks and knives although the knives have lost some of their sharpness.
It comes in a cutlery style plastic box which can be disposed of immediately you have somewhere to keep the cutlery. All the items have two grooves cut into them for some kind of design.
In comparison to other argos cutlery sets I really think there is not a lot of difference, if you are just looking to start up your own home then try this set. It could also be useful if you just need to replace a few items in your existing cutlery tray.
It is not silver and Im not sure what they are made of, but I have never had problems with people who have metal allergies using them. They are light enough to be collected from argos. Read the complete review |

Tesco Value Plastic Cutlery
by lorrainek858
During the good weather we had last week, me and a few friends decided to have a barbeque, when we were shopping for meat and juice and everything we needed, I came across this plastic cutlery set and decided it would be good to buy them to save us from having to wash up later, we also god paper plates and plastic cups because we were ... too lazy to wash up.
This is a 24 piece set, so you get 8 knives, 8 forks and 8 spoons, there were 12 of us so we needed to buy 2 packets, but they were so cheap we got both packets for in around a pound altogether. The cutlery is plain and white and just looks like your basic plastic cutlery set.
I was really pleased with the quality of this plastic cutlery, usually when we buy plastic cutlery the forks in particular end up shattering before we are finished eating, though none of the cutlery set broke or shattered when we were using them. Each the forks, knives and spoons didn't bend easily when they were being used and they were durable enough to be used in barbeques and picnics.
You can buy these plastic knives forks and spoons for in around 50p from memory, they are very cheap, though I wouldn't want to spend much more on them as they can only be used once. I will definitely be buying them again as I think this is great value.
Overall I think that these are a great little bargain and perfect for the picnics and barbeques, they are sturdy and durable and are great quality compared to plastic cutlery I have used before, also they are fantastically priced and well worth it for a break on washing up. Overall I would give these 5 out of 5 stars.

Ikea Bonus Cutlery Set
by Chandelier
I bought these when I moved to my first flat by myself - there were lots of new things I needed but was on a budget. I owned a couple of old forks and knives so needed pretty much a whole set and it was great to find cutlery so cheap. Four of each thing is fine if it is just one person, but I don't think this set wouldn't be suitable ... for a family, nor if you do a lot of entertaining.
The spoons are a little flat but function fine. The handles are also a bit flat so they are not the most comfortable to grip but they do work. The teaspoons are also quite flat, but this is less of an issue as I use the teaspoons to add things and stir rather than eating a main meal like soup where the flatness has more of an impact. The knives work as well as any other basic knives I've used and are probably the best bit of the set. They have stayed relatively sharp over the months and have thicker handles that are easier to grip.
The weirdest thing, and the thing I had to get used to was that the forks only have 3 prongs rather than four, it looks very strange and takes a while to get used to. It doesn't make a massive difference when you are eating most foods and they do function fine as forks for larger chunks or pieces.
However it means it's easier to eat rice with my older fork. Like the spoons, the thin, flat shape of the handles means they are not the most comfortable to grip.
I've had them for nearly a year, and there has been no noticeable colouring, rusting or staining which is pretty impressive.
You get what you pay for - for this you get cheap and functional at an absolute bargain price. Read the complete review |
