The perfect cutlery set in my opinion!

A couple of years ago I moved into my own flat from my home with my parents. To say I hadn't thought things through back then was an understatement and I ended up sharing a flat with a mate 150 miles away from where I originally lived!

Me and my mate had no money at all and we pretty much needed everything! So on a budget I took to Ikea and shops I think of with bargains in them and bought a couple of their really dirt cheap cutlery sets and thats what we used with no problems for the past couple of years.

However recently I have moved into a new flat all by myself and didn't need to buy everything new all over again thankfully. I did decide however to upgrade a few items for my fresh new, independent living start and looking at old cutlery sets that were looking worn and rather tarnished and realised it was now time to invest in a decent quality set.

This set I purchased from Amazon. I paid £26.81 (with free postage and packaging) and was told that the saving on them was £63.19 (70%). These are also available at higher prices and cheaper if you opt for used by the way, if interested in this set though do Google them!

      The Packaging:

The set comes in a green and grey box and the front section is open with a knife, fork, spoon and teaspoon on display but fitted on well and we are told that they are Monagram '24 piece cutlery set for 6 people', that they are made by Amefa and carry a 25 year guarantee and are dishwasher safe and designed for comfort and pleasure and made from fine quality stainless steel and that the set consists of 6 table knives, 6 table forks, 6 dessert spoons and 6 teaspoons. Contact details for the manufacturer are on the back of the box and then within the box each piece is wrapped in pull off see through plastic to keep them from scratching or getting damaged in transit.

      The Cutlery Set:

It wasn't until I purchased this set that I now understand why people do pay a little more for them. Prior to this set I was happy enough to use cheap cutlery....now though, well I appreciate a good quality set and wouldn't buy a cheap set ever again!

Style wise these are perfect to look at. Sturdy and each piece is made from solid stainless steel with no bits of plastic or anything else. Its a nice subtly shiny set that doesn't scratch or tarnish and always looks nice and is a great weight too.

All the handles of the pieces are long, comfortable in the hand and sort of oblong an not rounded in shape. The fork has 4 prongs to it of longish length, the knives all have slightly serrated edges and the dessert spoons and teaspoons are all nicely rounded off with no sharp edges at all.

Each piece has the word Amefa written into it in grey on the underside of the top of it so the pieces are not screaming out the brand or anything like that either.

Fully dishwasher safe this is a solid easy to hold and simply perfect cutlery set in my humble opinion. The knives are sharp enough on most everyday dinner (etc) items, the forks sharp enough to pick things up with.....I really have no complaints at all and am mighty glad that I finally got around to investing in some good quality cutlery and for me now there is no going back believe me!
