Advantages: Easy on/ off fittings
Disadvantages: Not bright enough to use out of town
We suggested the Argos Front and Rear LED Cycle Light Set as a product as we have had these little cycle lights for ages now and they have served us really well. They are easy to use and simple to fit, they didn't cost much to buy and they make sure you can be seen when out and about on your cycle.

You can buy a set of these Argos Front and Rear LEDs for £7.99. In the set you get the white front light and the red rear light. Both do look small and compact when you first set eyes on them, but don't be fooled as they easily light up enough for you to see and be seen on darker evenings or dull days.
The lights have quick release fittings on them which means you can easily slip them on and off and don't have to leave the actual lights outside on your cycle. Although you can set the lights to flash I don't think you are allowed to set your front light up like that when out and about on the road, so we leave ours on a steady light.
The rear red LED light does flash and we have used this in flashing mode on the back of the cycle, as we felt that having seen other people on cycles with their lights set that way, this made them more visible to passing motorists. They can also be set to remain on constantly.

The lights are very light and compact to carry and when you remove them they don't take up much space and can be slipped into a pocket or bag easily.
The front white LED light is bright, but as its only small I cannot say it will light up masses of the road for you. The light allows you to be seen and works fine in town, if you want something brighter for out of town night time usage then these are not the right lights for you.
The lights work via batteries and you need 4 AAA batteries to work both lights. Each light has 3 LEDS inside and so they don't run down your batteries too quickly. You do get a set of batteries with the lights when you first by them.

We bought these for one of the kids bikes and they have worked well. They are easy for a child to work out how to fit and use them. They have taught our child that having lights on your cycle allow you to see and be seen at night.
As a cheap but effective set of lights these have been a good buy. They are not as bright as some more expensive sets but they do light up well and we would buy them again. In terms of rating them they get 4 stars and lose just one for being less bright than some other sets of lights.
Summary: A good value set
